I love it
I received the laptop as a Christmas present. It is my first laptop so I have nothing to compare it to except the laptops of my friends. (I like mine best) I am still learng and trying new things. It seems to be perfect for me because of the weight and its look. I also liked the way it seems to perform. I use it for pictures, surfing the web and communication with friends. I would reccommend this computer to everybody. It is great.

first, when getting the i7 option, you're getting a pretty good deal. the toshiba protege with an i7 is more expensive and you're not getting 1600x900 and you're not getting the radeon graphics. and if you compare it to the Macbook Pro, you're getting the guts of the $1700 MBP for only $1200 (after the i7 upgrade).
second, the build quality is really nice. engadget and cnet said the screen was wobbly, but i've tried to get mine to wobble and it isn't any worse than any laptop i've ever used. and it doesn't feel plastic-y. it has a flat, almost soft finish and kind of feels like the body of a nice SLR camera.
Because of delays getting mine delivered from Sony, i went out and bought the Signature from J&R because they set their price to be the similarly spec'ed non-signature model.
With 8gb of RAM, my windows experience scores are 7.2, 7.5, 6.7, 6.7, and 5.9
obviously, dropping a SSD in will boost the 5.9 to over 7. i was planning on making that my first DIY upgrade, but the computer is so zippy with its stock 7200RPM HDD that I haven't felt the need to do it...yet. I put a SSD in my wife's year-old CW and there is a world of difference.
i use this computer primarily for music production (Reason, Max/MSP), Graphics (Adobe Lightroom, Processing), and Video Editing (Vegas).
One more thing: disable the VAIO dock. it's totally useless. you can't uninstall it; sony has changed the method of uninstalling their pre-loaded software so you can't do it from the Control Panel, but you can disable the dock right from the Dock's Setting's Panel. I only used it twice and it crashed once.

ALOT of BIOS updates due to many Issues, no SATA 3
Tech support told me You cannot revert back to OLD BIOS so you have lost SATA 3 speeds. Sheet battery sometimes does not show up in newest firmware or if it does, the computer only takes power from sheet battery and not both, so when sheet runs out the computer shuts off even though you have full internal battery. To expensive for the features and the problems. Dont let sony fool you, my power mode is on balanced with Speed settings so I can use AMD graphics and i only get under 2 hr of battery life. We need SATA 3 support. And even if we could go back somehow to older BIOS for sata 3, why would we? ( we will have older BIOS problems). Sony Needs to FIX this asap.
You all can read about it here.
