Rated 5 out of 5 by DiDahDit Easy to Set-Up, Easy to Use: Flawless!
Installation: Unbox, connect HDMI, connect power, turn on, follow on-screen instructions. (Tip: First thing you should do is update the software during set-up of any electronics; this Blu-Ray updated in under 2 minutes.) I use password-protected WiFi; all I had to do was input my network name and password when prompted. From the time I opened the box to the time I was online was well under 20 minutes.
Sony Entertainment Network: I got this to access and share YouTube with visitors on TV. Neither the box nor the online reviews prepared me for the large number and variety of services offered!
Miracast: I have a Droid Razr Mini Android phone. The Sony Blu-Ray "mirror" function works flawlessly with my phone.
"Quickstart Feature": I had to turn this feature off to use the automatic function of an HDMI hub/switcher. With Quickstart, you're ready to use it in 2 seconds; without Quickstart, you're ready within 6 seconds, which is still faster than I can grab another remote (for the HDMI hub).
Durability? I've only had this for a month. However, I've got a Sony radio and a Sony Vaio laptop, both of which are still working perfectly despite being over 16 years old. I assume

Rated 3 out of 5 by StarTrekFan Like it except for rewind
My son took his PS3 to college, so we finally had to use something else to watch Blu-Ray DVD's and Netflix. A friend loaned us their Apple TV to try it out. Pretty sweet, liked how easy it was to watch Netflix. But alas, no DVD-watching with that. So we bought this Sony Blu-ray Disc player. We got the Wi-Fi one just because, maybe in the future it will come in handy. But we do plug it in with a wire just to be sure of no signal loss.
Anyway, we like it a lot, except for one thing: when you rewind to go back a few seconds because you just didn't hear one word or phrase while watching Netflix, it does this thing where it sort of reloads, screen goes slightly dark, and there is a circle in the middle that loads up, saying "99%", and it takes maybe three seconds to load and make the screen bright again, but three seconds seems like an eternity, so that we don't appreciate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by plwyman Amazing bang for your buck!
Features and speed keep improving on all BDP's and the cost keeps coming down; what's not to like? I mostly just use the basic features on this Sony player for watching DVD's and BDP's. It loads fast, the picture quality is fine, and the menus are straightforward, attractive, and easy to navigate. At this price point that's about all one might expect. But the Sony does it with such finesse. I also love the small footprint and streamlined case. It can fit almost anywhere.
Since I also have a Sony TV one remote manages both units. This helps with remote table clutter. The TV also auto selects the BDP whenever it's on; little things sometimes help a lot. I know the player can stream content, as well, but my Sony TV does all that with ease so there's no need for me to link at the moment except for firmware downloads or additional blu-ray content.
Overall, I think today's electronics provide incredibly advanced function but the Sony products have the edge on appearance, style, and integration. I'd recommend them to anyone especially if you're on a tight budget. Lots of bang for your buck with these Sony product lines!

The brand name Sony is not what is use to be! This Sony Blu-ray Disc player is a big disappointment, I would give it zero stars if that was an option! The player squeaks and squeals when being used with DVD's-the noise is atrocious and provokes anxiety instead of relaxation. Furthermore, I bought the player from Frys and had to beg and plead for them to exchange it (as I threw the box away-so confident that Sony was still a quality brand name) even thou the receipt clearly showed that I had only bought it two days before bringing it back they gave me a hassle bringing it back with out the box. The replacment Blu-ray player still makes the squealing noises-just intermittently instead of on every DVD like the previous one did. I recently watched the DVD "Gravity" and could hardly stand the squealing noises that accompanied it-I'm sure the sound engineers who made this movie would have been horrified! Another huge aggravation is that this DVD player intermittently signs me out of my Netflixs account, and I have to stop everything and manually enter my email address and hunt down my password. This Blu-ray player also takes a long time to connect to the internet. I feel buyers remorse as I have wasted my money on a substandard product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by revik Does exactly what I wanted it to do.
My previous Blu-ray disc player was equipped with Wi-Fi but was unreliable at best. This basic player (meaning that it doesn't have 3D capability like most every top of the line offering) is excellent at streaming over a Wi-Fi connection. Also has a feature that allows Blu-ray discs to load MUCH faster than my other two current players. I like it. Does all of the normal disc playing functions well with an abundance of supportive features. There is no panel display so you really have to count on the remote and the on-screen displays to operate.

Absolutely terrible. Bought this to replace outdated player for better streaming connection to Netflix. Connection was either non-existent or super slow - playing 1 minute and then buffering for 10. Spent over 5 hours making adjustments based on Sony site, forums, etc. and finally gave up and put back the 6 year old player that I had intended for this to replace.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SteveP Slow User Interface
This Blue Ray DVD player is small and does what it's supposed to do. But the user interface is so slow it's frustrating to use. There is a 1-3 second delay between pushing any button and the response (yes, including the power button to power light turning on). We use it mostly for Netflix, and again it's functional but terrible to use because of the control delay. The menus are flashy/showy, but not very efficient - they use linear menus instead of 2-D menu selections, so you can only see a few choices at a time.
The remote is small, which is nice. But it doesn't have a number pad, so it cannot be programmed to operate your TV (unless it's also a Sony), so it takes yet another remote to view videos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aunty Enjoyable
The only negatives I have at this point is that it takes so long for connections to be made. The network connection has to be made every time the disc player is used. Making connection to an app is very slow and long getting done. Netflix takes a long time to connect.
The power connection often is undone when I try to start another session and plugging, unplugging has to be done until power is returned. This is most annoying.
Finding information on making network connection is very difficult to find. I don't know what some of the things being asked for are and cannot find out what they are. I have gone online trying to find a users' manual for the player, to no avail.
