Rated 5 out of 5 by WVLJ None better, not even the S7200 or the S790
I've had my two units for a while now. The first S6200 was purchased on day one and never has been a disappointment. The second S6200 was purchased about 4 months ago and it too works great. We use our 6200 for DLNA support when we watch movies from our server and it works great for Amazon Prime. Lots of great movies stream flawlessly and that includes HD videos and high bit rate audios even up to 13Mbs which is a lot when discussing audio channels. Can we compare the stream to blu-ray playback? It is hard to tell the difference because all of our video entertainment is made by Sony. I have been an avid Sony diehard for more than 30 years and I have never gotten a lemon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jitster Excellent upgrade!
Needed a new blu-ray player for the new media room - was debating between an LG and a Sony - was hesitant on the Sony because of the price difference, but finally went with the Sony - didn't have a great experience with the last Sony entry-level Blu-ray player I had - stopped playing blu-ray discs after 3 months and had to get Sony send a warranty replacement - and they simply replaced my brand new blu-ray with a refurb, so I was kind of bummed about that, but bought another Sony - this one is definitely an upgrade - the sales guy did a great job talking up the dual core CPU - I don't care about the 4k upscaling because I don't have a 4k capable projector, but the dual core CPU does help - menus and applications fly - loading of discs is smooth and quick, startup time is excellent.
I wish Sony would improve their UI a bit - it works but having to run scroll through all the video apps to get to the one you want is a pain. Still the quality is excellent and the player is holding its own after a month. Still have the old Sony player upstairs but compared to that one, this device is super fast! Lets hope it doesn't break like the old one did.

I have tried other brands of Blu-ray players and found them well below the Sony standard. The 6200 series player is the best Sony machine yet! This is my fourth Sony Blu-ray, the others being replaced because I wanted the latest generation. I have found a "keeper"! This little beauty does everything I need including some things I will never use it for! The 1080p output makes the picture like looking through a window. Having a good HD television probably helps. I have some DVDs that were VHS transfers (not remastered) and it makes the transfers look terrific! The engineering staff at Sony had it together when they came up with this baby! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants the best and is tired of searching for it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MetroDetroitDon Nice While it Worked
I purchased this player from Best Buy to complement my recently purchased Sony 7.2 receiver. Initial impressions were good. I like the user interface and playback from streaming and optical media was great. However, after about 6 weeks of use the unit stopped powering off completely, flashing "off" on the display but never powering down. The only solution I found was to unplug the player and plug it back in. While this is an inconvenience, it didn't happen too often (once every other day), the real issues started about three weeks ago, the unit now freezes up multiple times a day, requiring the entire entertainment center to be pulled away from the wall to access the power cord. As if this wasn't enough, the unit no longer recognizes ANY form of optical media, choosing instead to try reading it for 2 minutes before telling you onscreen that "the disc isn't recognized". The most disheartening aspect of this whole situation is that this player isn't inexpensive. Retailing at almost $180.00, I was expecting it to last a bit longer than 3 months. I am very disappointed with the player's performance and hope that my unit was just a lemon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JayLafray Perfect Blu-Ray for 4K TV
This Blu-Ray player is the best if you have a 4K TV. It makes my normal Blu-Rays look 100 times more clear and doesn't take much time to load.

My 18 month old Blu-ray DVD playet was patially chosen as a streaming portal for Netflix movies. Only problem? It had no capability to select subtitles, (or closed captioning as some describe it.) This can be useful when invariably the dialogue is drowned out by loud background music in the soundtrack.
Frustration with that missing feature lasted as long as I had used it, which wss almost daily.for 18 mths. Now the 6200 subtitle option is a breeze to select. It makes Netflix more valuable.DVD picture & sound is better too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Crazycatz Sony has done it again!!!
Easy setup, Easy access to all things. hooked it up to my surround sound system and Sony TV. Looks and sounds awesome!!! I have a playstation 3 and a Blu-ray 770 and this one enhances the look and sound even more than I expected. Very happy with the upgrade and features. The person who said he was taking his back probably didn't even know how to set the time on his VHS.!! This product outperforms all the competition!

Rated 4 out of 5 by TechSavvyGuy BD Player BDPS6200 (3.75 Stars not 4)
I purchased the Sony Blu-ray player from Best Buy at the end of July 2014. I have used it several times but only to access Netflix and Youtube videos. Works good on those two sites. In the future I plan on trying it out on other streaming websites such as Hulu Plus to see how well it performs on those site. I have not used it to watch DVDs or Blu-rays, that is so 2012.
Overall I would give this player 3.75 out of 5 stars for three reasons.
First, I had planned on using a wireless keyboard/mouse combination with it to make web surfing easier. Needless to say, the keyboard & mouse that I have did not work. Maybe it needs to be a Sony brand?
Secondly, if you use the actual Internet application provided by Sony (it is not Internet Explorer or Google Chrome), it is slow and cumbersome. Not worth the effort to use it.
The third thing I did not like about the Blu-ray player is the remote is too small. It is smaller than any of my other remotes (TV,/Cable Box/Stereo). It is 5" x 1 /3/4" x 5" x 1/2" (L x W x H). Sony could have made it a bit larger and with a keyboard on the back. Maybe then I would have given them 4 3/4 stars. It still needs Google Chrome or Internet Explorer (working properly).
