Back when the PSP first came out I couldn't decide whether to purchase one or not but I'm glad I did. I have all my library of games on the go. Now the problem is trying to figure what games to purchase because there are so many good ones out there!! From the PSP graphical side this system is sooo amazing the graphics look like those of the latter generation games on the PS2...only on a hand-held. I'd probably cry if Sony made a PS3 hand-held....
One thing I did not like on my PSP (the very first edition) is that the analog stick was kind of squirrelly. Street Fighter moves couldn't be pulled off and my car in Ridge Racer kept running into the wall on purpose (and stayed on the wall when I tried to drift)....I know some people would think it's because I cannot play ridge racer but I beg to differ since I've been playing it since it came out on PS1. So with that said, Sony stated that the new system has an upgraded analog stick (its better) and better position of the speakers....the older models have the speakers on the bottom not the top, tv capabilites, a whole list of other features. So later on I plan on trading my old PSP in and upgrading to a new one so that I can be happy once again to play my beloved Street Fighter and Ridge Racer games......

Rated 3 out of 5 by jolietjeff nice but needs a few options
The psp is a nice unit that plays lots of games with decent graphics and is a good music and video player. But the new unit is not compatible with older style batteries which cost $$$ and has no wireless bluetooth capability to transmit to wireless headphone. I suggest SONY looks out for previous customers by making batteries compatible instead of being greedy and making new batteries on future upgrades and incorporates a bluetooth transmitter for music. The WIFI is useless since it is so slow for the internet! My old unit went bad after 1 year would not read games discs!

Rated 4 out of 5 by killermed It almost has it all!
I like the features SONY put in the PSP, however not being able to intergrate it into my car with a SONY brand stereo does not make since. Sony car stereos come with I-pod controls, but not PSP controls. I hope the next PSP will have a touch screen, Blue tooth, and MUCH more ram. This hand held system has so much more potential for features that people would pay for. Also Sony, you might want to look into a PDA functions to attract more adults and maybe a preloaded GPS cradle for the car.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hather666 I have the origional
I have the origional PSP system, I bought it like 4 or 5 years ago. This system has served me terrifically since I first bought it. I mainly use it for music since I'm not a big gamer, but I am very satisfied with the graphics and selection of the games available. The WIFI is sorta slow and it doesn't have much internal memory, but for being the very first generation, Sony developed a very well built machine. I cannot tell you how many times I've dropped this thing and it refuses to quit (even went through the dryer once). The battery lasts for a good while, and it hasn't really lost charge capability over the time that I've owned it. You can't multitask like you can with PS3, but again, for being 1st generation, it's an amazing machine. However, due to age and use my charger jack it beginning to get a bit funny (sometimes you have to wiggle it to get it to start charging), so I am thinking about getting a new system (or I know someone that could fix mine), I don't think I'd go with the PSPgo, I know some people that have it, I've used it, I don't like it like I do mine (maybe that's just because I'm so used to mine), maybe I'll buy the PSP3000...

back in the day i had a fat 1001 model, it got stolen. the christmas after i got a new 3000 model, it was stolen. now im on my third one, so far it hasn't been stolen. these things are great media players and a fantastic game system, but no matter what you think, do NOT take it to school. because you may think "oh its safe in my locker" or "nobodys gonna go through my book bag" but some how people manage to steal them, moral of the story DON'T TAKE IT TO SCHOOL!!!! ive gotten off topic a little so lets get on with the review, these things are so good every time one got stolen i went right back out and got a new one, thats how great they are. so if you haven't already bought one or haven't played one (which im sure %99 of people have) get one, they're fantastic

Rated 5 out of 5 by Throckmorton Best "portable" game system I have ever owned.
I own the original 1000 model and it sill works GREAT! I brought it to my Doctors office once and he almost wouldn't give it back to me. He bought three for his children to take with on long road trips mostly, but ended up just for fun! I use it for GPS functions listening to music or watching videos. I bought the 3000 model for my Son so I could keep my old one for myself.
