Rated 5 out of 5 by JADANT GoPro step aside, Sony is here to claim the throne
I have used the GoPro and was thoroughly disappointed. I went out and purchased the Sony HDRAS100VR/W. USer interface is simple and easy to use, very intuitive spent 10 minutes or less with the manual and I was off to Disneyland with it. The wrist mounted live view remote is very functional and the quality is excellent, but it would be nice if the camera could handle multiple connections at once, giving the option of multiple mobile device users to pair to the device and be able to see the same live video stream. Video quality and stabilization is excellent, Sony has decades of camcorder experience and it shows. Don't waste your time searching for alternatives and go with the Sony POV action cam.

Rated 4 out of 5 by acousticmtl One major stock glitch
I got the AS100VR. The only thing that really bothers me is that the GPS light seen on top stays on all-the-time even if you turn the GPS off. The red light is so bright AND hot that it will definitely be a battery drain, further fogging issues galore and for night shooting the red actually goes through your thumb being so darn bright. It will definitely be an issue when others get the unit. Sony please fix this as I may even return it just because of this as it is definite defect in my book. Firmware 2.0 here we come..hopefully
Was hoping it was just an isolated problem with mine but is apparent stock as I have found other videos showing it on. You need to fix this ASAP Sony.
Having the AS15 I was really excited about this and it is a great product but.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DailySkier Fantastic Product
I am extremely pleased with the quality of the video that the POV camera takes. The link to the remote control though does at times loose its connection. My greatest frustration with the remote control is that whoever designed the strap has never used the item in the winter. Simply put, the strap is not long enough to go over a ski jacket cuff. Sony needs to design an extension to the strap to overcome this short fall.
The second scratch element is that the battery looses its charge rapidly in cold weather. I can accept this and manage the challenge by placing the camera in an inside pocket when I am not videoing.
I would recommend this product over any of the competitors as the video that is produced is superior and more stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chipster Excellent POV Combination
The video quality is typical for Sony, excellent. The wrist remote works well in most circumstances. The only time it lost connection was when I was above water and the camera was on a pole more than about three feet under water. The two quickly reconnected when the camera was closer to the surface.
I was concerned about the small wrist display, but with the camera's wide field of view I could see enough to know the camera's position.
I used the camera at Great Wolf Lodge water park and it worked flawlessly. I probably looked a little silly with the camera on my right wrist and the remote on my left, but it worked well for me and I was able to get great video shots of grandkids.
Another use was at Northwest Trek. I did a helmet mount. The helmet mount is okay, but next time I'll rig up a shoulder mount. No camera can be chest mounted because of the safety harness.
I have tried probably half the extra functionality of the camera, such as the "Interval Photo Recording." What I have tried works as advertised.
My only caution is to plan extra time for setup and a change of setup. There are many adapters and mounts, which means you can adapt to most any video situation, but it takes time to do so. I think Sony should try for fewer and more universal adapters.
Yes, I like it. I like it enough that I'm considering buying a second Sony Action Cam. I want the two cams set facing in opposite directions, one for recording where the action is going and the other for recording the face of the subject. I'm that impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ActionMan13 Great Action Cam
Great camera! Bought this for a cruise and took it everywhere. Snorkeling, zip lining, water slides, or just strapped to my back pack strap. I just wish it had a zoom. The fish eye lense catches everything in the picture and stabilization is good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DannelH Some Issues but Overall a Great POV Camera
Overall I'm impressed with the picture quality and functionality of this camera. I love that it has a universal mount in comparison with the GoPro.
I've had one issue that seems to have gone away. Multiple times when I was using the camera when it was new, it would randomly stop recording without any buttons being pressed. There is some footage that I missed out on, most importantly the birth of my daughter. Very frustrating there are parts of that moment that I'm missing, but I've used it a several times recently and havent had that issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by chefbill Striking videos but very limited controls
Fixed aperature HD video w/o zoom or adjustments..recorded segments not thumbnailed or accessable x by scrolling manually thru all segments..you will have to keep a written record (!!) of which # refers to a specific video/photo..no playback speed control,back/fwd., etc... camera buttons are very small & require significant pressure...protective covers for cables very difficult to open w/o damaging... in short, a work in progress needing much improvement.

I currently have 3 HDR as100v's & remote! I am in awe as to the beauty of this camera! The Color Saturation and Sound Quality is by far the Best in the Industry! Syncing my 3 cams in Multi-view is a great feature! Sony's Play Memories program is easy to use and makes managing photos & videos so easily! Thank You Sony... You are the Best Quality for the $$! Keep up the great work and I hope people realize that the shouldn't even consider a GoPro!!
