Portable Speaker dock for iPod ®
As most people have commented on other retail websites this product has about a 12 to 18 month shelf life. I was using mine today it was working fine and then put my 3GS back on and received an "ERROR" message and now the machine is a brick. Many other post state no way to fix this without sending it into Sony for approx. 150 dollars.

The sound easly fills up a room and can be heard throughout my 1200 sqft home. I think sound quality is very good too.
There is an aux. sound input jack, so you can use it with more than just your ipod.
There are three different inserts that the manual says you are suppose to use depending on the model of ipod. According to the manual you can damage your ipod dock if you don't use the insert, but I don't really see how.. The only function seems to be that it cradles the ipod a little better. If you use the insert then you need to take off the ipod cover/skin. Others say the insert is hard to take out if you need to change it, but I had no problems poping it in and out.

Great Product with a few slight problems
I think this is such an excellent product that I now have two of them; the radio is excellent (in sense of ability to draw in weak stations), the chassis is (with one exception) well designed, sleek, and well made. The sound is very good (much better than a Phillips one, but not as good as Bose,in my opinion). One minor problem with the unit is carrying it; there very little to hang on to when toting it around, but in the back there is a small place to put your hand to hold it while you move it. You still have to be extra careful or you may drop it (and no, it isn't shatterproof in my estimation, nor would I want to test the unit's ability to withstand a big shock); my first unit broke down in less than 6 months; it apparently was a pin breaking on the unit that connects to the ipod. If you have problems like this, they (Sony) usually sends you a refurbished unit , good for the remainder of the warranty (it's a year total).
