Portable HD MP4 camera w/5X optical zoom
Small Videocamera NOT available by Sony anymore.
Purchased this for a Mother's Day gift in 2010. Called SONY, to find out if any more accesories were available for purchase. They had none. All this unit came with is a CD Rom, 2 wires, Battery, and an instruction sheet to show how it works.
I also noticed that the wire for charging the battery is tiny. I had to go purchase a 6 foot USB wire for the unit to be able to perform charging the battery from my PC.
I am wondering if I might want to trade it in.
(HIGHER NUMBER OF MEGAPIXELS WOULD HAVE BEEN FAVORABLE).

Awesome little camcorder
Previous reviewer Rupayan pretty much said it all, and I echo his/her comments. I could not be happier with the camcorder and am astonished that it or upgraded version is no longer available by Sony. I did ding it one star in performance since image stabilization is not available for 1080@30fps or 720@60fps settings. I find that I am using the 720@60fps setting the most since it offers the best, most fluid playback you can imagine. Playback directly to an HDTV is absolutely stunning!
The best part of the whole thing, IMHO, is Sony's software. PMB is the included software to assist in downloading, organizing, and playing your video clips and is very easy to use. However, Sony's new Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Suite is just stunning, fun to use, and better than competing programs from other makers including Adobe and Roxio. As with all of these, however, you will find that HD video taxes your computer system heavily and I needed to upgrade my memory and graphics card. I also added a Western Digital Caviar Black hard drive solely for video clip storage and movie making.
Love this little camcorder!!

Great For Blogging But Not Intense Videos
At first I thought this was a terrible purchase. Thing is, I had a really old SD Card, a 512MB unclassified data chip, and the video quality on all levels was pretty poor. BUT I invested in an 8GB class 10 SD card and the quality zoomed way off the charts. This is a definitely good camera for blogging. For intense video recording and directing, not so hot, but of course this is under $200. What a deal. The autofocus is quite annoying, and sometimes takes a while to work, but not as bad as other cameras that I have used. The only fail on the blogging end, is that the camera cannot be left standing on its own with the flip screen open and facing the user, as preferred. What you must do is open the flip, to turn the camera on, and then flip it upside down and back in so that the screen is on the outside of the camera, making it impossible for the user to see themselves. overall, I am happy with my purchase, for blogging purposes, as I already have full use of a professional studio for free. It would be a nice feature to add an on/off button as opposed to turning on and off with the screen being opened/closed

I bought this to shoot videos and couldn't be happier. very small and fits into tight, low light spots. easily hidden so subjects cannot see.
