Rated 3 out of 5 by walkfan Not as good as earlier Walkman MP3s
This is my third walkman MP3 player, so I'm a definite fan of the company and the product line. I bought this largely for language study, but use it a lot to listen to music and podcasts. Unlike the NWZ-S545, which is the best walkman I've owned to date, this unit forgets its place in the library if left off for more than a few hours. Its incredibly annoying to have to start at the main menu and try to find one's place in that podcast one was listening to a couple of days earlier. If the sofware engineers can come up with a fix, I'd give the unit five stars in all categories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AudioBliss777 Your search of a great MP3 player ends here...
I know there are smartphones out there with music playback functionality and iPod Touches that gives the user access to thousands of apps. But what happened to that simple music player that's reliable, doesn't feel like a brick in your pocket, and doesn't require a battery charge every 12 hours or so? Enter the Sony Walkman NWZ-E465....
When it comes down to enjoying music, audio quality is all that matters. This Walkman boasts audio quality that's second to no one, even with it's audio enhancements deactivated. I can't speak much for video playback since it's 2 inch screen is not very ideal for such a thing, however it's highly responsive and the battery almost lives up to its 50-hour promise (keep in mind that songs need to be played at a bit rate of 128 kbps to achieve this). Even if songs in your library play at a higher bit rate, this player still offers better battery life than any iPod or smartphone I've ever seen.
Some of the bonus features that I adore is the ability to set a wallpaper (even though you'll only see it on the home screen), and playback speed control so you can catch those lyrics of a song (ie. someone rapping very fast) or if you're trying to learn a different language.
If you're not looking for apps or anything of that nature, your search for a great MP3 player ends here. Do yourself a favor and purchase this thing!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by missinglink Sony all the way, what can I say ! Thank's Sony.
I have and have had many Sony products and really enjoy the having my NWZ-E465BLK with me, I have taken this walkman many places including Church and the Veterians hospital and other places where it was not bulkie or problem matic, just what I needed to be on the go as well as to be discreet . I have had this my first mp3 player for less than 3 months and I have over 1000 songs, plus video and podcast on it and only a little over 3 gigs. memory left to add to, so I will proubly have to get another mp3 player in the future and It may well be a Sony, although it may be one of the larger memory one's that has the android system, you know the new one's Sony just came out with. Again, Thanks Sony, you have did it again, made a product that is really not only usable, but really nice, also fun to use.

This is my second Sony mp3. I really like the first and beat the snot out of it and finally it died. This one is very similar but also has voice recording which has been very useful for me. This one does not appear to be as robust physically, though. I have a bad suspicion that it will not last as long as the first. Oh, well. Nothing lasts forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kaalrock AMAZING!!!
If the word "Amazing" means anything to you, I suggest you purchase this walkman! It may be relatively expensive, but when compared to the features provided the cost is pocket change. Friends of mine are saving to buy one. The only negative aspect is that albums by a single artist are listed in alphabetical order rather than the date recorded. Although this is inconvenient, it is far from a problem. Besides, Sony technicians have told me this will change. Again, the most accurate suggestion I can make is "Buy it!"

Rated 4 out of 5 by Josue I spent months researching the best mp3 players I could afford and finally found this.
The one thing I quickly notice was how fast it was on recharging the battery and syncing. I was surprised on how great the audio quality sounded. The custom EQ is also great. It even sounds good when I use it with my FM transmitter in the car.
I am not really into the headphones it came with. In fact I don't like them at all. I had a pair of headphones I bought months ago those are fine. The sound from this sony mp3 player is still great.
The navigation through the music, features and settings are easy. I had to get use to the button pressing from the touch wheel on the Ipod.
Video quality is ok. You can drag and drop certain video files that the player will convert it to mp4 for you.
I use the latest media go player to sync, which is better to use. I don't trust WMP that much.
(It also says that you can sync using Itunes but it doesn't recognize the sony mp3 player at all.)
My previous mp3 player I had (Ipod Nano) could display lyrics. This player could do that to but you will have to use the LRC, which I will never do, its to much work in doing that to every song lyric I have. I will have to just deal with not viewing lyrics. I wish this sony mp3 did have it like the ipod does.
Audio features on this player is great and fun to use. (Slow or Fast, High or Low Pitched) I love the SenseMe Channels feature the player arranges and plays songs depending on the mood. You can delete Videos, Voice Recording and Pictures but not song music.
The only "cons" I could find was that you cant use the player while the USB is in charging and some album cover art wont appear. I had to make some of the album cover art a little smaller for it to appear. But others that are really big do appear anyway. I don't know if something is wrong with a particular picture file I have or something else. http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C566790
My sister has an Ipod Touch, My brother has a Sansa Fuse (click wheel version)
Overall this is a great mp3 player for its value and features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lighthouse A great sounding, and easy to use, MP3 player
This is a great sounding MP3 player. I had a NWZ-E345 previously (the headphone jack went bad), that I thought sounded fine as well.
Navigation was straight forward and I have no major issues, but I did miss being able to hit the option button, and go back to the music I had been listening. On the E345, this could be done from any screen, and I found it very useful. On the other hand, I liked the information in the "Detail" screen - when listening to music - and thought it was better laid out. I also liked that it was easier to select another song when listening to a song ("Option" button, then left arrow). I also like that the player now shows the the total length of what you are listening to in the playing screen, without having to go to the "Detail" screen. In addition, in the "Common Settings," "Unit Information," I liked the layout their much better than previously, expecially that it now shows you how much free space you have (in my case 2.5 G).
While you can easily transfer music using Linux, the only way to use the manual is to install the software in WIndows is a bad idea (it would not install in WINE). Why isn't the manual in a separate file, Sony, or available online. (I have been using the E350 series manual that is online when necessary.)
I am also going to echo some other peoples comments about these Walkmans: a larger memory capacity, or expandable memory, on these terrific sounding players would be wonderful. With the amount of free space I have, being able to purchase a larger capacity player, or expanding the storage, would be a tremendous benefit.
I realize that I am not in the target audience for this item - I mainly listen to classical music on my E465 - but I find the album art superfluous, and it adds to the size of the MP3 file. Expecially since I do not utilize album art, I find the size of the album art on the player too large.
Some of these things I mention are nitpicking, except perhaps for the manual and storage issues, and this is the reason I gave the E465 only 4 stars.
These are terrific MP3 players, and I recommend them.
