by Riccijhonny Excellent Phone, the best phone right now...
I received the phone a month ago. I've used the Sony Xperia Z and Z1, and I love both, In fact, I passed my older phones to my sister and my mom, because I really love it, and I didn't wanna sell my xperia's.
The display is big, but not too much... is perfect for me, bright and provides a feeling of naturalness, the view angles are excellent, and the level of darkness of the black color improves significantly. Thanks to the IPS RGB display (Z and Z1 have TFT displays)
The sound is AWESOME, comparing with the xperia Z and the Z1 (And all the galaxy's), this phone sounds terrific.
NFC's technologies work's Fine transferring Photos, music and other archives with other phones, my smart tags work well too.
I use a Sony 64 Gig SD card so total usable storage on the phone is about 75Gb.
Battery life is awesome! 3200mAh... I finish my days with 30 or 40% of battery
The better Feature: It's waterproof, like Z and Z1, The earphone jack is uncovered and doesn't affect the waterproofing at all. In my Xperia z I have to remove the jack cover for listening music, but no more... To prevent closing and opening this little covers I bought a Sony Dock
The 20.7 mp Camera is Awesome!!! and the secondary camera is better than Z and Z1 too. Photographs are utterly brilliant and very VERY fine detail, The Colors are so Natural, better than Galaxy S5, S4 and S3 that seems to use an Ultra artificial coloring.
I really like this phone and I have nothing negative to say. I bought it in Black, because my older phones are White... I have to change it... Is really beautiful, Gorgeous, and the materials are really amazing too, it makes me feel the heaven in my hands =). I think that the Z2 is the most beautiful and powerful phone in the market.
with 3Gb of Ram, and a 2.3 GHZ 801 processor, is SO fast, nothing negative to say... It's ultra fast
I live In Venezuela and the phone Works Fine in every Company, gets 4G (LTE) in Digitel (Unique with LTE, and is not so good =s)
If you're looking for the best 2014 phone, z2 is a great choice, M8 is also an excellent choice but isn't waterproof, that in my case, is not a choice, I really hated the Galaxy S5 when I hold it in my hands, so plastic, and the display and Camera have unrealistic colors
Sorry for my English Level, I hope you Understand

by anotherbuyer Great Phone but be aware
This phone is an excellent phone in tern of build quality and fluid UI and pleasing aesthetics. The huge battery and variety of modes will last the average users at most 1 day to two days. I used the phone from morning full charged to night with over 50% left with moderate internet browsing and watching a few video and listening to some music.A few negative comments that you need to take into consideration about this phone it's size, it's feels premium and weighted to feel so, this phone doesn't feel cheap but that where I have trouble with it. It's lean of the hefty side and will take some time getting use to if you are coming from a smaller phone.
Other buyers that are complaining about a head set.. correct this does come with a inexpensive head set unlike the international version from most UK market and Asia market, those phones will come with a premium noise cancelling head phone(50$ on the Sony Store). This US version however do not. So do be aware of that, but for most that will not a deal breaker. Another con that I would have to give this phone is the call quality is not on par with other high end smart phone around this price please take that into consideration if you spend most of your time talking on the phone, unfortunately for me a clearer voice quality would greatly benefit my experience with this phone.
The biggest flaw that I can find of this phone is if you take it look at the front your phone, on the lower left corner of the phone, there is a space from the glass that is not completed flushed with the housing of the phone whilst the other three corners are seamlessly fitted with the plastic housing. There is a small open gap that might bother some users. (Photos Attached)
Over all this is a great premium phone that is long lasting, beautifully designed with minor/manufacture defects that is to take into consideration the flawed that I saw on the corner of this phone really bothers me but am traveling so I do not have the time to send this problem in to get fix so which is why I am giving this phone a 3 stars, minus two for the corner defect and call quality since those are some things that decrease my experience with the device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chiichoi Topnotch phone! :)
Had this for awhile.. and is still inlove with it and is not planning to upgrade anytime soon for the reason that it still is a topnotch phone in my eyes! Battery life is stunning, 20 MP is as good as having a mid-range point and shoot camera with you all the time. My photos are very amazing, too! Fast browsing function, screen very responsive and of course water-proof thing is my most fave feature. I like the 4K video option but is something that I don't use often because a 1GB memory is equal to about 10-minute recording already. It has micro-SIM slot and a 16GB internal memory. I also like the option of zooming in while you watch your recorded video. That's something that is not available in most phones before! Good standard video recording even in low-light areas. I wish there was a flash on the front camera for selfie moments and a better Xmor sensor I guess since with my phone I don't enjoy selfie moments in low-light places.
But in general, still a 5-star rating. Phone performance overall doesn't affect the front camera cons. I'll wait til Sony will have such front camera upgrade before I will buy my replacement phone. :)

After 3 Erricson/Xperia phones i was excited to purchase a Purple Xperia z2 for my wife in December. At first it was an immaculate phone, she loved it but after a couple of days the phone stopped reading the sim card. I contacted sony care and chatted with a service rep. and he gave me steps that would "fix" the issue(a software update). After successfully doing the software update, it did nothing. The phone continues to fail at reading the sim card, i thought the problem was the sim card so i switched my wife's sim card into my other phone and it worked. Clearly it is the phone. I also did some research to try to fix it myself but i soon realized that i wasn't the only one with this issue. I also called sony customer care twice and to my knowledge 1 rep told me sony gives out loaner phones while the other said sony doesn't offer a loaner phone and did not transfer me to a senior rep after i requested. All that i asked is for a simple email from someone that could actually help me out.

The good: Battery life is really great, it lasts me a full day. The rear camera takes really clear shots. Speedy processor makes everything smoother snappy. The HD screen makes anything you watch crisp and detailed. The dedicated camera shutter button is extremely useful for those photo buffs. Its water-proof feature comes in real handy around clumsy people. Call quality on T-Mobile is great (depending on your carrier). The stereo speakers get pretty loud considering the size of the phone. The design is beautiful, the rounded edges and sides make the phone feel slimmer than it is.
The bad: The phone size might be too big for some people. The retail price is too steep. When on speaker mode, the sound only comes from one speaker (bottom), not both. Accessories for this phone are pricey too.
Overall: This phone will not disappoint. It is has great features, executes them well, and lasts you a full day. The design and beauty of the phone really attracts the human eye. Taking pictures and recording video is a joy. What mainly sets this phone apart from all others are three things: Water-proof, 20.7 MP camera, design. Sony is starting to make a dent in the mobile market here in the US and the Xperia Z2 makes that happen.

I have previously owned the iphone 4,4s, 5 and samsung galaxy s4. Sony's phones are not something to shrug off. I considered this phone because of the aesthetics and specs. The iphone pales in comparison by far in terms of specs, speed, and looks. If you were once a mindless sheep following Apple like me, please consider all of the options available out there! The Xperia z2 blew me away with its crazy cpu speed. Battery life lasts me 2 or more days compared to the iphone's 16-hour juice. Xperia z2's two speakers are almost invisible and perfectly placed at the FRONT. YES, the speakers are on the front. Samsung galaxy phone speaker is on the BACK. Absolutely amazing phone. I received many compliments on my phone in America (i bought the purple one. Almost everyone has an iphone/galaxy). The Aesthetics give it such a professional look. The dedicated camera button adds 3 more stars on top of the 5 maximum stars possible. You will not regret buying this phone. I wish that Sony advertised more. I wish I knew about the Xperia line-up much sooner.
For those wondering... I am currently on AT&T and I went to the AT&T store to have the employee's set my phone up. I was able to convince one of the employees to purchase an Xperia z2. It is Beautiful, Powerful, Fast, Slick, Convenient (MAGNETIC CHARGER!!!) , Top-of-the-line, Attractive, Perfect.

High quality product. Overall build quality is great, elegant design, great hardware insides, great software on top of it.
I use this phone almost constantly throughout the day and I still get 2 full days of use from the battery. The IP ratings give great peace of mind for accidents or unexpected weather.
Phone seems to randomly wake up when Tap to Wake is enabled, not sure what is causing that. Leads to increased battery usage, otherwise I might get near 2.5 - 3 days off the battery.
I'm only giving 4 stars because the Z3 (with near identical hardware for what is required) is getting software that the Z2 currently isn't slated for. That's rather harsh for how new the Z2 still is in the US.
If the new Z3 software features aren't a must for you, this phone is a solid purchase for less money.

I bought this phone yesterday (7-24-2014) and so far is great. I have always been a Sony die hard fan but the previous xperia Z & ZL did not impress me at all. Now, I take my hat off for the xperia Z2. The camera is amazing, Slow mo, special effects, and many other features really enhance the already amazing 20Mpixel camera. The phone feels solid. Amazing glass finish on the front and back gives it a unique feel and look that everyone at my work praised the phone. The 3GB of RAM and the fast processor makes this phone one of the fastest and smoothest UI I have ever interacted with. That was one of the drawbacks with the xperia Z & ZL the UI was laggy and slow. With the Mini USB adapter I am able to connect my PS3 controller and play games without any configurations and I did not root the phone. The Z2 screen is sensational very crystal clear and crisp images. The colors are so vivid. I only had this phone for a day so I cant really review the battery lifetime (Usually most Sony phone users can agree that the battery life in Sony phones are not that good). The icing on the cake is that I am able to get 4GLTE with ATT. I removed my SIM card from my ATT GS4 and I just inserted it in the Xperia Z2 and automatically activated and registered itself. I am also able to create a hotspot without paying ATT for that feature (which you mostly have to pay whenever you buy a phone through ATT) because this is an unlocked phone I am able to share my LTE speeds with anyone.
