I originally purchased this laptop for portability and specs (I had the SVF15A16CXS Version). Physically, this machine is beautiful. That was one of the main reasons why I had purchased this computer. It performed smooth and the touch screen was very responsive. Everything was excellent with one major flaw: the Wi-Fi. If it hadn't been for this all important flaw, I probably would be typing this review with 5 stars instead of 1. Considering I would be bringing this laptop to and from places, specifically campus, Wi-Fi is VERY important to me. Using an ethernet cable was not an option. The Wi-Fi on this machine is terrible, inconsistent and unreliable.
For the first 24 hrs of purchasing this laptop, I spent most of my time on the internet (from my phone) to figure out why the heck my Wi-Fi was 1-2 bars in a usually 4-5 bar area. I went to 3 different locations with the same result: 1-2 bars and constantly dropping connection. My speed test results were unacceptable averaging 3mbps down and 2mbps up. Needless to say, I returned it right away. I am now using the Samsung Ativ Book 8 which was only $100 more than the Vaio I had purchased and I am completely happy.
My problem isn't an uncommon one. In the Sony's Support Forum, they have pages and pages of problems concerning the Vaio Fit's Wi-Fi. Please do your research before considering any of Sony's Vaio Fit line.

Purchased at local Sony Store in Dallas and about a week later used for work at a conference composing Powerpoint slides with client photos & short webvideos. Long-story-short: It crashed 3X and I had to perform as many recovery/repair modes. Got a blackscreen with cursor only twice... then it wouldn't power up. Got Tech Support on phone and did a button reset on bottom ...thing is there is no "button" ...just a pinhole that requires a tiny, tiny paperclip to insert. So you can't open any battery compartment because laptop is designed to prevent that. Later found out that I really couldn't add more ram. I really don't think the laptop is ideal for photo/video/grfx as the HD is 5400rpm and the GPU is shared memory with mobo instead of a separate card like Nvidia. Returned it hoping for a refund...but store said they'd replace it or I could spend more bucks on a better model. Since this unit crashed so much being new... I passed...instead of refund though I got a Sony Gift Card which really burns me up since I can't spend it anywhere but at a Sony Store or Sony online. I'm finding these Sony only retail options are overpriced given the same product is cheaper via 3rd parties. So I'm not happy at all with my experience. A very unhappy customer who will probably not be back as this was quite unsatisfying experience.

I owned a Sony Vaio about 4 years ago great machine, and it got stolen. As a single Father I had to watch my budget and got a Ac*** terrible Laptop, and then a Sam**** it was ok but it was not dependable. I now got a Sony Vaio Fit 15, and it is amazing machine with all products such as lighted keyboard, screen quality is crystal clear, and 5X faster then any of the other laptops I have had or tried. When my girls are sleeping I can type my papers, or do homework from one of my on-line classes. I'm only going to be purchasing Sony laptops in the future. Thank you Sony for making a reliable and affordable machine.

While there has been improvement in design and performance, Sony products lag behind in terms network connectivity. I have owned two Sony Xperia phones and from reading other customer reviews, the WiFi and even cellular signal is unreliable in locations where other phones show full spectrum.
One would expect Sony to compare with other flagship phones and laptops to ensure that they are up to par before they release them, but it is the customers who are catching these flaws.
Also, most of them are overpriced. Sony needs to be realistic, especially knowing that their phones drop calls and sometimes they don't even ring! I am had Sony products for many years, but the cell phones are putting a dent on other Sony products.
Sony, you have been in this business for a long time; you can do better.
