I have been using the Xperia Tablet Z for almost 6 months now. Although I have an iPad for business use, I bought the Sony tablet Z for personal use when it first came out. The Xperia Tablet Z is one of the best tablets that I’ve tried out.
First, the design is very sleek. The iPad Air that launched few months after the Tablet Z is actually slightly thicker. At about 1lb weight, I found holding the Tablet Z for a long time is extremely comfortable comparing to my iPad2 which weighted 1.33lb. The difference becomes noticeable when I carry the tablet on-the-go.
Another feature that I like is the water-proof capability. We often keep the Tablet Z in the kitchen so we can watch movie while we cook. Also we have a toddler at home. He uses the tablet for reading and gaming regularly. With the Tablet Z we don’t have to worry that we accidentally spill water on it. In comparison, I hardly let my son touch my iPad.
Overall I am very happy with the Tablet Z. I would also recommend the slim case SGPCV5. It protects the Tablet Z well without compromise the slim design.

Strict to the point. I LOVE this tablet (I bought the 32GB black). I had the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for about a year, hated it, sold it and to get this Sony tablet.
I did a lot of reading (other people comments and reviews) and research online; so I am going to compare my thoughts with what I have gathered online. I also have a iPad2 which I kind of stop using it because I can’t really “copy and paste” video files that I digitalize from my DVD collection and also because of limited storage with no microSD slot for me.
Used my wife kitchen scale, the weight of my tablet is only 483g, even a little bit less than the claim 495g, I am not complaining.
Display is beautiful. A lot of people saying the color reproduction is off, but I kind of like the “warmer” color scheme, easy on my eyes. The screen is not particularly very reflective or is very bad at attract fingerprints. It is almost expected to have a lot of fingerprints on any tablet touch screen, unless the glass/film is matte finish. This tablet is waterproof anyway, meaning easy to clean.
Battery life is not so bad. A lot of people are complaining about the battery life and charging time. I do not see the problem so far. I kept writing down the time and % of battery life left, here are the results: I had 67% when I first turned on my tablet on 11/20 at 8:34pm and did not charge it yet. Lightly used and tested it for couple hours. Turned on the Stamina mode at 11:24pm with 44% (went to sleep, did not touch it) and checked next day morning (11/21) at 9am with 39%...meaning it only used up 5% during the 9.5 hour standby. I still didn’t feel like charging it yet until today, 11/22, at 8:22am with 11%. Checked at 9am with 22% (charged 11% in 38 minutes)…I disconnected the power for couple minutes since I need some files from the tablet and then connected the power again… Checked again at 12:25pm with 88%, meaning it was charged 77% in about 4 hours. I do not find it “unacceptable”. One guy online said that it took him over 40 hours to charge up his tablet; I really cannot verify that.
Flap covers are part of the design. Some people are complaining about these flaps, well, in order to be waterproof, you have no other choice. Unless you really pull them out very very hard, they are not that easy to break. These flaps are also turnable once it’s open, so headphone jacks, microSD card, and USB cable can be FULLY inserted, all the way.
For some reasons, Google Chrome browser works with this tablet. My guess is that the Sony UI is very close to stock Android without much modification. My old Samsung GT2 10.1 had problems with Google Chrome such as slow, sluggish, freezes, shut down, etc.
I don’t really like the previous Tablet S, but this Tablet Z, oh boy, you have to touch it and seriously consider when you go out and shop for a 10 inch Android tablet. I did not even consider getting this tablet before, until couple weeks ago, I went to a Sony Store in a shopping mall and played this tablet a little bit, then I fell in love.

This is the best tablet out there! My wife has the iPad and I've used the Nook and the Samsung. This does everything better - it is light and superfast. The battery life is very long as tablets go. I would highly recommend the Xperia. The only downside is that adding & removing the memory card is a bit of a pain, but I don't think there is a tablet out there that makes removable data storage easy (and some don't make allowances for data cards at all).

Rated 4 out of 5 by BRS2014 I love this tablet! But...
I bought this tablet and received it a few days ago, the battery life is great. I fully charged it the day I got it and I haven't had to charge it yet. I bought the cradle to go with it and I love it, it's convenient and very useful. The only problem I have with the tablet is that when I'm laying on my bed or if I have the tablet at a certain angle or flat, the screen turns off, even if I'm in the middle of doing something. I have the sleep mode set on 5 minutes and I've tried everything. It's very annoying and it does it every time. I can only get the screen to turn back on by tilting it at a certain angle, the power button doesn't help, it doesn't do anything. Everything else is perfect!

I love the Xperia z Tablet. I would recommend it to all my friends and family. Lightweight and easy to take with you. The only problem I have is that you cannot see the screen when you are in bright light.

I had never used a tablet computer before, and this is the first tablet I have ever purchased. I honestly had no idea that tablet technology had progressed to such a level.
The processor is fast and responsive, and produces almost no heat. I can access and manipulate several applications simultaneously, and the device does not crash.
The device boots in less-than 15 seconds, and with the screen brightness set to minimum, which is more than adequate, the battery has endured for almost seven hours without needing a charge.
The screen resolution is remarkable for such a light-weight device. The pixel ratio is impressive, and when I use Kobo the letters appear natural at any font size.
What really impressed me is the internal speakers. Even at full-volume the sound is never distorted or shrill, and the volume is loud enough to entertain a guest.
The device is advertised as water resistant, but I doubt I will ever test this claim. I hope this will contribute to the longevity of the device.
Sony Customer Service is superb. I initially had difficulty connecting the device to WiFi, and after calling Sony Customer Service it was discovered the issue was with my Cisco Router. Sony Customer Service actually took the time to advise and trouble-shoot a problem with a device that was not even their product!
The only negative comments I can currently make regarding this product is that the power cord needs to be about four times longer, and the battery is extremely slow to charge. Other than these two minor annoyances, I can find no major grievances with the device.
My previous Sony Vaio laptop is still fully-functional after eight years of continuous use. So, I expect this device to be the only tablet I will need to purchase for the coming decade.
I will offer an update in six months time, and we shall see how the device endures.
All things considered, this is another exceptional Sony product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by tablet2013 The first and last Sony product
Switch over from Ipad and wait for a while for this product to come out it was exciting, at the time of purchase no one carry 32 GB on hand except Amazon. Put in purchase and the look was excellence, graphics really stand out and compare to Ipad it was feather weight. Sony asked for a review I pointed out few negative points like most of their installed software were Sony's proprietary not sure if SD port can expand more then 32GB and the least but last is the cover for micro USB port.
Went to Sony store in South Coast Plaza the sale reps there were awesome and helpful, one of the rep told me there is an upgrade on software but usually 16G model came out a week before 32GB and now SD port will accept 64GB that is a plus more storage for pictures and movies. Sure enough a week later system upgrade to new version. So far every things are good until one morning in Oct. after unplug the charger I noticed the cover for micro USB is deform and wont cover the port properly, for pre caution I like everything to fit perfectly or properly under warranty or out of.
Contact Sony today Nov 02, 2013 and their conclusion was cosmetic damage, not manufacture poor workmanship. I even explain that when I bought this I even wrote a comment regarding to this which I can foresee in future and I think Sony took it down from posting cause this hurts their sale. I can not Sony would not honor their warranty or at least send me a replacement caps after spending great amount of money for their product, this is not how a big company treat their consumer and I would guaranty Sony this will be my last product I purchase unless Sony comes up with some sort of solution.
