I'm on my third pair of Sony mp3 waterproof walkmans. Headphones perform great at the gym- no wires to compromise your workout, and a cool novelty to swim with (freshwater only) as well. However, my first pair started acting up after about 6 months of near daily use. The volume would slowly decrease as it was playing to the point of being mute. Pressing the volume up button would only temporarily resolve this. My second pair worked fine until they were smashed in a biking accident w a minivan, and my current (third) pair, about 7 months old, are starting to do same thing as first pair. I've tried resetting them, but yo no avail. If they were cheaper, or if they lasted longer, I would give them a 10 out of 10.

I am a runner in South Florida. Most the times it is hot. I have gone through half a dozen ipods countless headphones and at least 3 "waterproof" Bluetooth headphones all lost due to sweat or rain getting to them. No matter what I did to protect the ipod it never lasted more than 6 months and waterproof headphones never lasted mire than a month. The Walkman has stood the test of time through excessive sweat and countless rain storms. The media go interface that comes with it is easy to use and imported all my play lists from iTunes. The controls on the Walkman itself allow you to adjust volume, pause, skip songs, skip playlist and are easy to use and control even while running. If you are a runner and like listening to music on your run and run regardless of weather conditions throw away your ipod and switch to the walkman

I have many Sony products and out of countless items, this one is probably my least favorite. When it functions, it's great. The only other product I can compare this to is Apple's Nano and shuffle. Overall, my biggest complaint is in the way it charges. Sometimes, it won't charge so I follow the manual which is really more like a post-it note, granted it is pretty intuitive- cleaning the grooves with a toothbrush. However, I'm not sure when it is charged fully. At times when not in use, I leave the player in its charging cradle and the light goes out so I assume it is either charging or it is completely done charging (?) but when I take it off the cradle and press power, the light blinks red as if it never charged at all despite seeing the initial glow of the charging. Has anyone else had this issue? As far as having an 8-hour playback- non existent, but I'm not being physical for 8 hours straight that requires music so that's not a huge concern and Sony does advertise that the battery life varies; it would be nice if it didn't die out in the middle of my long runs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Diego Great purchase
I like this product. I have had it for about 1 year and I can now say that I am happy with it. I do cycling, running, gym, and swimming. It works great for all sports. I have a MAC computer and one thing that I do find annoying is that in order to clear songs from it, I have to actually reformat the walkman since it doesn't let me delete songs individually. Adding them is a breeze but I like to keep interested so I try to change music often. Another reason why I did not give it five stars is that when swimming, it sometimes falls off. Quality during swimming can be touch and go at times if you get even a little water in your ear. Now, this is not to say that this is not a worth buy because it is.

I am on my third player. When it works it is a great product. This last player lost sound in the left ear shortly came back and now the switch does not work. Had this one around 9 months. The other two lasted a little longer.
It is too bad because I like the product because it does not require any wires.

I was very excited when I bought this player because I thought it would be perfect for the gym. No wires from the headphones/earbuds to get in the way. However, it would n't come on initially. When it finally did, it was in the zappin mode and it took a couple of minutes before I was able to turn it off. Finally, with the zappin off, the sound was pretty good. I was impressed. But later, at the gym, when I tried to turn the music on, it wouldn't come on right away. When it did, the zappin mode was on again. It took almost five minutes to get the zappin off. Sorry, but what is with this feature? Who listens to a song for only 4-15 seconds? I took it back to the store after only two days. Your other mp3 player is so easy, turn it on, music plays, Sony should remember, Keep It Simple!

I was very excited when I bought this Walkman NWZ273 since it would be the unique way to have fun swimming. In my opinion, it's a boring sport, however it changes when we can hear some songs.
I already had another Walkman from Sony (NWZ 260 if I'm not wrong) and it worked perfectly. That's totally different from NWZ273. I'm pretty sure that my NWZ273 has own will since it charges when it wants, it plays music when it wants, it turns on when it wants, it turns on the Zapping mode when it wants and also it turns on the shuffle mode when it wants. The only problem is that sometimes its will is not my will. Now, I'm not being able to turn on the Walkman and I will have to wait its will.

Got it for my birthday. Very comfortable and easy to use but as to me needs more features like FM tuner and blutooth to use it with tablet or phone.
