Really Excellent - almost
We've had our new W802A for just under a month now. Purchased it from a local audio/video store that has been in business for many years. This 55" unit has the best picture, sharpest image, most accurate color of any TV we've ever owned. At 78 yrs. old that's a lot of TV's.
The only reason this baby did not get 5 stars is because of two problems.
1. The sound quality of the built-in speakers borders on AWFUL. And that leads us to problem number 2.
2. We added a Sony sound bar and sub-woofer. First of all...the sound bar is tall enough, and the TV's own pivoting stand is short enough....that the sound bar blocks the infra-red sensor on the TV. Ergo the TV remote won't work. So that required purchase of a new $350 furniture cabinet/TV stand with an open shelf just under the TV, wide enough to accommodate the sound bar. OK problem with remote sensor was solved. BUT....then we discovered that, when connected to the sound bar, the audio was intermittent. It would drop out every few minutes for varying lengths of time. Picture remained steady and good. We tried both analog AND digital/optical cables with same problem. I even purchased another brand of sound bar and tried it out.....with same disappointing results.
Finally our dealer suggested we disconnect the HDMI cable and replace it with COMPONENT connection to the cable box. ("component" cable is the 5 wire bundle with the red, blue & green colored connectors plus stereo sound connectors) THAT cured the audio problem. We've had no further audio drop-outs. And...of course...the sound bar provides much, much, much higher fidelity audio quality than those tinny speakers in the TV. Now we're happy. The work-around took care of it. What's more...it is my opinion that picture quality is better with the "component" connection than it was with the HDMI.....which involves various types of compression that damages the quality of the blacks and whites (gray scale).
SO....4 stars is the best I can do here. If you purchase this TV be aware that you might have to throw away your HDMI cable and go with "component" wires IF you plan on connecting a sound bar for improved audio.
I communicated with Sony on this problem via E-mail and the company consumer service people were clueless in regard to this audio problem.

Sony is the best picture in the industry.
I purchased the KDL55W802A last week to fill a need in a new home, and I am so happy. I had purchased the KDL55HX850 two years ago, and I love them both. I bought the first LED TV based on CNET reviews, and I purchased this TV due to how great it looks and my enjoyment of the HX850. If you really take time to look at the picture quality between Sony and all the other LEDs on the market, Sony is simply the best picture available. I dare you to spend 5 hours in a store looking at LEDs and not decide the Sony looks the best. People talk about the brightness of the Samsung, but all of the models that are priced less than Sony bleed colors and are not crisp. In order to approach the quality of Sony, you need to get the very high end Samsung which are all very expensive.
Sony approaches the deep blacks of plasma with all the benefits of LED. If picture quality is your primary goal, this is the TV is for you. The one thing that could be improved is the ease of the online/picture settings navigation. If your primary reason for buying a TV is to surf the web, then do yourself a favor and buy a computer.
