by JcCuriel Amazing Phone...but
So I bought this phone through TMobile yesterday after 4 weeks of using the Moto G. I know they are not in the same league but man, does this phone it it away. The phone itself is amazing. The front and back glass construction is top notch. The waterproof features are really cool and works really well. The UI is beautiful and the loaded Sony Apps are second to none. My only gripe would have to be the camera its self. Don't get me wrong it takes amazing pictures but there are many instances where any front facing camera shots and rear shots show ALOT of grain. I don't know if this will be fixed in a firmware update or not but its really making me think about returning this phone. If anyone is having these issues please give any advice. I will add a photo taking with the Z1S and my Moto G so you can see the grain I'm taking about.

Rated 1 out of 5 by RohitChangappa Good looking Phone Not water Proof and Bad Wi-FI C
I don't know where to begin with the problems with this phone. I got this phone end of feb2014 and I loved it. It is a beautiful phone, looks great compared to the galaxy I used before. The phone is made of all glass has a very nice feel to it compared to the samsung. The phone has a great camera, and shoots amazing pictures.
WI-FI CALLING TROUBLE!!
Trouble started first with my wi fi. As all of us know T-Mobile does not have the greatest network but I have been with them almost 3 years now and am willing to bear with them thanks to the wi-fi calling feature on their phones. I barely have network where i live and i always relied on the wi-fi calling on my samsung which i used for more than 2 years and did not have trouble with. I started noticing that calls on the Xperia was really bad, crackling, dropping and incoming calls going straight to voice mail. While was having this trouble on a call, I immediately switched the sim from my Xperia to my old galaxy and the call was crystal clear and the person on the other line could hear me. Immediately I called customer service and they trouble shooted and decided there was something wrong with the phone. They sent me out another phone. As soon as i got the second phone I tested it and the same problem..Called back customer support and they replaced the second phone. At this point I asked them what if the third phone has the same problem, they said they will replace that as well, which does not make sense . Anyway third phone arrives and same trouble. Now, when i call customer support they say, this is the third of the same phone you have and it could be something wrong you are doing so please take the phone to the T-Mobile store. So At the store the guy used wi-fi calling with the store's wi-fi net work and he too noticed the voice cracking, and luckily for me a friend of mine tried calling me at the same time and the call went straight to voice mail. The guy at the store called customer support and told them he saw the same issue. So now they sent me a signal booster home. I have not had any trouble since, but that does not solve the problem. I am assuming that Sony has a buggy wi-fi adapter installed on the phone and that could be the reason for these troubles.
NOT WATER PROOF!!
Ever since i got this phone and i heard it was waterproof and opening the tabs on the sides to charge the phone could lead to the tabs breaking. I got my self a dock charger so i never have to open the tabs.
One weekend we took our 3 yr old to the pool swimming. Unknowingly walked right into the pool with the phone in my pocket. I quickly realized what i did. But I said to myself what the heck. they claim the phone can shoot under water, so i decided to try this feature. and nothing happened. All of sudden multiple windows started to pop up, and as i tried to click picture i get a message saying failed to write to SD card. and then the phone went off. Now the phone does not turn on and so i immediately took the phone to the t-mobile store and told them. Customer service says if they find out there was water damage they will charge me!!! what sense does that make?? Water damage on a water proof phone??? I know according to them the tabs/ flaps need to be closed, and apparently they are going to test for that and determine whether it was closed. That must be some test.
Anyways If you are looking for a great looking phone, not going to use wi-fi calling and never going to use the waterproof feature.. go for it!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by WheatRidgeHS2001 Touchscreen Issues!!! Buyers Beware!
There's been several reports of touchscreen issues!!!! Be very cautious when proceeding. The phone is amazing!!!! However the touchscreen issues can render the phone unusable for the duration of the episodes it has.
If you're a heavy "drag" user, meaning you rely a lot on dragging your finger across the screen, you'll experience a lot of issues. If you're a quick tapper, and don't rely heavily on the dragging of the phone you'll be fine and when the update comes out you won't even worry.
For me personally I drag a lot! Games like Hungry Shark, or browsing the web, I tend to keep my finger on the screen and drag which causes me issues! I'm also a heavy swyper! This is impossible to use when it is having issues.
It's intermittent and frequent, but until Sony updates the software to fix these touchscreen issues, I'd say proceed with caution!
I plan on returning my 4th device and I will continue to do so until fixed! I'm trying to send a message to Sony. Fix this issue! You have a gem! The phone is killer! It'd be amazing without touchscreen problems!

Rated 5 out of 5 by samtheman2013 Awesome Phone - Best smart phone
I 've used an iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S4 before and they don't even come close to this. Forget the hype and media on those phones! The only good thing I like on the iPhone 5s is the fingerprint scanner. But the camera here makes a better deal for me. Not sure why Sony does not promote/market this phone in US. They need to sell this on other carriers. But I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile just to get this phone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gertrude Waterproof useless with product durability issue
I am so disappointed. I absolutely love this phone and have taken it to sandy beaches, underwater, etc. I chose this over an Iphone w/Nud case. Ugh, wish I hadn't. The one feature that keeps this phone waterproof is the jack cover for the charging outlet. Which popped off into the land of the unknown one day when I went to open it to charge my phone. This renders my phones waterproof features USELESS.
It popped off after 4 months of use, and yes I have a warranty. But why would I want to pay another $150 to replace a tiny cover that was attached to a plastic bungee cord. No thanks. I give it an average rating because it's equal to every other android out there that has no waterproof capabilities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ch1n4b013y Great Snappy and Powerful Phone
So I want to come off by saying that I had the Xperia Z1 C6902 beforehand and returned it because the Z1s offered 4g LTE support for T-mobile, my carrier.
Pretty much everything is the same in terms of performance of the device as its older brother the Z1. It is very quick, snappy, and very little lag issues. I can be in and out of apps instantly. In terms of software, the Z1s has the same amount of bloatware from Sony and plus some from T-mobile.
Sadly the same TFT screen is the same on the Z1s. So the viewing angles can wash out the color of the phone.
The good differences of course are the 4g LTE support and the extended 32 gb internal storage standard and the $100 decrease from the Z1.
The bad is that the phone comes with plastic frames instead of aluminum frames. I already had the water proof protector for the Micro-Usb slot come off in my pocket. With careful fiddling, however, I was able to place it back onto the phone. I would say that the water proofing on the Z1s should be handle with more care because of the plastic material.
All I can say is to blame T-mobile for this request and also to boo Sony for listening to this request of making the phone less premium in terms of material use. Nonetheless the phone still looks and feels premium in the hand.
Another thing to note is that the Xperia Z1s is slightly larger than the Z1. So if you are thinking about returning the Z1 and getting the Z1s, your Incipio Feather case will not fit on the Z1s. Also, the head jack is moved towards the center.
For anyone thinking about purchasing this phone, I would tell them to consider the size of the phone. Luckily for me, I have big hands so I can handle the Xperia Z1s pretty well. If you are a person who uses the phone one handed a lot, it will be difficult to use.
If you purchase this phone at the store, open it up in front of them and run the "Touch Screen" diagnostics test. Make sure you can scribble with your finger for the full 10 seconds without the phone stopping mid way. It appears that faulty touch screens are an issue because I had a faulty one when I first received my Xperia Z1s and another reviewer has one as well.
Other than that, I do enjoy the phone and the water proofness allows me to listen to music in the shower or watch videos.
Tl;dr - Great fast phone. Bigger than Z1 so Incipio case won't fit. Bad plastic frames instead of aluminum, handle the water proof protectors carefully. Still TFT screen, so viewing angles washes color. It's a big phone, so make sure you can handle it. If you do buy the phone, "Touch Screen" diagnostics test is what you should run when you first get it. If it fails, replace it until you get a perfect one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TKTechNews Solid device very impressed
We posted a full review on this device and comparison on YouTube on our channel TK Tech News. as a z ultra user I love having basically the same phone as a smaller version. the display is better than the Xperia Z, viewing angles are better. though I feel the z ultra has the better viewing angles the z1s is amazing.
