The laptop and hardware is pretty decent but the software is terrible. I do not recommend anyone waste this horrendous amount on something with so many little software problems, the biggest being terrible wifi connection. Don't buy this for more than 700 unless you like not being able to connect to the internet at least once a day for over 20 minutes. Not really worth the money, wish I could return it or exchange it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Walt78230 Trouble sleeping, finicky trackpad, loses wireless
Close the lid and you never know what state the machine is going to return to...sometimes display scaling is off or changed, sometimes it is just blank, other times it doesn't come back at all. Sometimes the machine loses track of the wireless adapter after coming back from sleep necessitating a restart. Trackpad gets fussy often but can be fixed by putting the machine to sleep and waking again - but this tends to cause other problems noted above. Had more than a few instances where the machine got *really* hot while being transported in my bag as the machine doesn't always go to sleep when lid is closed. Machine is pretty much stock out-of-the-box with MS Office and Firefox installed...Two trips to the Microsoft store and two calls to Sony and things are about the same... Definitely not a business class machine, often very frustrating for even simple tasks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jay2 Sony Vaio Pro 13
The first one I bought I owned for a month before one day it just never turned on again, I returned it and received a new one and here are the issues ive had with both:
1.) constantly shuts down on its own due to DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION--I had this issue with both sony vaio 13 laptops and have learned its a hardware issue that ill have to send in for repair, which I have no time to do so I just have to put up with it shutting down on me 6-7 times a day
2.) touch screen is ok and not always responsive and somewhat jerky or overly sensitive
3.) wireless is TERRIBLE. sitting in places where everyone else is able to connect im constantly left hanging
4.) battery life is nowhere near what is claimed, it lasts about 3.5-4 hours
1.) its light
I owned the first computer for a month and this one for about 3 weeks and ive spent at least 5 hours total on the phone with sony helpdesk trying to work through these issues, I have no patience left for this, especially with the shut down issues and poor wireless and I wish I could return it for a refund but ofcourse that's not covered in warrenty. I DO NOT recommend making this purchase. I have friends with touchscreens that are light that work much better and were much cheaper (Lenovo, Samsung, MacBook)
also windows 8 is super annoying and counterintuitive and when working on the desktop the start menu keeps popping up and forcing me to reselect the desktop

First thing that you will notice is how light it is!! I have the silver one and it looks so good at night <3 the battery of this laptop is excellent, but it depends on what you use it for, if you use word, excel and powerpoint then you should get about 10-11 hours of usage at medium brightness, although using Wi-Fi can get you about 5-6 hours easily. There were few issues with the brightness not working after sleep and auto wake up not working but that can be sorted out by downloading the earlier version of Vaio Control Center (66 MB) which was released in 2012 October. Overall the touch is also very responsive and it is handy when using the internet, but regular touchscreen use can cause fatigue. Overall I Love This Laptop <3
