Rated 5 out of 5 by docray WiFi connection to Mac OS X
It took me less than 5 minutes to download the Mac OS X software (from the link given in the WiFi pamphlet that came with the camera) and connect the RX100 II to my iMac, my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 5. The WiFi link established worked flawlessly in all three cases. I don't understand why anyone is having problems with this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by dencentral Not Apple-friendly, Sony loses this sale
The new Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera RX100 II features wireless NFC connection with Android phones including remote shutter capability and initiation of WiFi file transfer.
It's too bad Sony completely ignores methods of pairing with Apple iPhones, which don't use NFC, and I read a review here from a Macintosh user who said he/she can't even get WiFi drivers for Macintosh PCs off the Japanese language site he/she had been directed to search (really?).
It looks like a sweet camera, but I could never pay for a feature set that works with phones and PCs, but ignores the number one smartphone in North America, and "the other" PC operating system popular for home use.
I avoid Android or Windows in my workflow, so unfortunately these oversights/decisions oblige me to ignore this offering from Sony when considering my next camera purchase.

by georges Great job Sony!
In cause of very good, almost euphoric reviews the Sony RX100 II gained my attention. I bought the camera one month ago and after a few hundred shots I'm more and more fascinated by the image quality. Especially at night the large sensor shows its power. Noticeable are also the well working automatic scene detection and useful features at manual mode like peak mode, that marks parts of the image which are in sharp focus.
The camera body is perfectly finished, but for my taste the mode selection wheel is a little bit too stiff,
At least I have to admit that I'm missing one feature a little bit: A built in gps sensor for geotagging. But overall I can only fall in line with most of the other reviews: Great job Sony!

by BeJay PERFECT FOR ACTIVE SENIOR'S LIFESTYLE
If you are like me, it's a great time of life... retired senior with four grandchildren under 5 years old, my photography has begun to coalesce around: grandkid portraits / parties / milestones; and exotic travel / adventure trips; together with a renewed interest in photography as a hobby.
But, life is not always that idyllic, with age have also come eyesight and dexterity limitations that caused me to put aside my DSLR and my camcorder to seek the ideal instrument -- a prosumer-level pocket-sized powerhouse -- first the RX100/B and now the RX100M2/B.
[I had my RX100 for a full year and just traded-up to the RX100M2 this past week.]
Their extraordinary compactness and brilliant LCD display make handling and portability a snap. No more squinting through a viewfinder or lugging around a stuffed camera bag, which I've often left in my room just as a great photo-op passed me by!
Sony's in-camera programs are superb. And the tiltable LCD display minimizes the stress on my neck and back. I can't wait to try out controlling the RX100M2 from my smart phone, wow.
Sony's Picture Effects can be another whole side of my art to develop. So, Net/Net, the Sony RX100M2 helps me to capture life's special moments with ease and precision-- beautiful images of a good life ... try it your self and see!

by jmknights ILCE-7R NOT A SPORTS CAMERA - FAST ACTION
36mb Excellent Resolution, color, sharpness.
Extremely slow startup time.
Noisy, slow focus, shutter actuation(after pushing shutter button takes extra ordinary time for shot to be taken.
Quirky some times it show down right in the middle of a shot.
Review button sometimes fails to activate.
Poor battery life and expensive at $79.00
I have A99,A77,A900,A700,A100, RX100 and Nex5 to compare it to. If could have the low light capability, 36mb,resolution, and speed of my A99 or A900 I would be a very happy camper. For landscapes, portraits etc.; it is a great camera for a sport photographer it just doesn't cut it!

by Rocco UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Just received 3 days ago. . I bought the camera so I could have a traveling camera, that would take quality shots on the go, without hauling my huge DSL camera & lenses. After much research, I decided on the RX-100M2. My wife takes the worst pictures and has no knowledge of cameras & their operation. She volunteered to take pictures & Video for a baby shower. I gave her a quick tutorial on the basic operation and sent her off with it, expecting the usual results (Questionable) I truly could not believe the results! The color, focus and quality of the shots were amazing!! The price for performance is wonderful and I can't wait to test this camera's advanced features if I can pry it out of her hands!.
