Rated 5 out of 5 by Mayte Great phone, totally me proof!
i've done it all with this phone, dropped it on the floor on water, kids played with it, gone to the beach, my dog even bite it just like the commercial, and still nothing wrong with it, beautiful resilient piece of technology that swept me away and puts me in awe, love Sony!

I bought this phone for work and I am glad I did. The phone is smaller than I thought it would be but big enough to enjoy the screen. It is thin and light - about half the thickness and weight of my iPhone 4. The screen is fantastic and durability is good. I think the screen on my Xperia Advance is equal to or greater than the iPhone 4 even though the phone itself is smaller. The phone is well constructed.
Having said all that, one of the issues I have with the phone is the battery is totally unpredictable. All things being roughly equal the battery is quirky. Some days it will use 20% of the battery, other days it will use 100% of the battery - doing roughly the same tasks and for about the same amount of usage. Sometimes I have 80% battery at night when I go to bed and then only 25% when I wake up and not enough time to charge it before I go to work.
Also, there is no mute switch like the iPhone. Sony should put that into every Xperia phone.
One more thing - you can only turn it on by hitting the "on" button on the top of the phone. I would like to be able to turn it on with another point of contact on the phone.
Other than that, I love this phone. Very cool, stylish, durable, great screen and colors, lots of ringtones. I don't need the water resistant functions but it is nice to be able to have it near my sink when I am in the bathroom shaving or brushing my teeth and not have to worry about my phone.
Well done, but Sony can make it better pretty easily. I think they will. I recommend it in spite of the few flaws. I would buy it again.

Great UNLOCKED phone. It would be better if all frequencies were offered for flexibility with providers. Sony seems to be stuck on At&T bandwidth but for unlocked phones why? May be other carriers will take them if frequency provided.
Screen is very clear and sharp. I liked the tight casing, I need it for I drop and get my phones dirty all the time. Also the dual core processor is lightning fast.
One of my pet peeves is the inability to uninstall junk apps like YouTube, Facebook, etc. It is UNLOCKED, give me the flexibility.

Love my phone, looks good, very light.
I risked when I bought it because I am with Straightalk and ..... it worked! :) for me it is the best deal ever.
However I feel the battery life is not that long like it is listed in its "Specifications".
Overall I like it and I am not sorry for buying it.

I received the phone with Ice Cream Sandwich installed. I had read that Sony released a Jelly Bean update for this phone (I would realize later that they apparently didn't do this in the US), but I decided to give it a run as it was with ICS. Everything seemed decently smooth and acceptable for about an hour, but after that the phone would become sluggish and virtually unusable for unknown reasons. Even bringing up the phone app to make a call was impossible. After a few reboots and seeing the same thing happen, I tried to update via PC Companion, but it insisted I was running the latest software. So, I went poking around online to see if I could find the JB ROM. I ended up flashing a couple of different international versions I found on xda-developers. The earlier JB version was still unusable, but Sony must have solved some major issues with the second JB release, as with that ROM the phone is now pretty good again. It's no speed demon, but as long as you are willing to give it a couple of seconds to catch its breath when moving between apps, it's good. I'd say it's comparable to an iPhone 4S running iOS 7.
I appreciate the water resistance - I had it out in the park playing basketball when some rain rolled in and didn't have to worry about running it back to my car. I've even brought it into the shower with me while texting someone. The dust resistance might be a nice feature with dander from two large dogs floating about the house.
The critical factor was the size, however. The trend to 5"+ screens is extremely irritating to me. Aside from the iPhone 4S, I'm not aware of another decent smartphone out there with a small (sub-4") screen. I've been an iPhone user for a long time, but the current 4" screen is a bit too large for my hands to efficiently navigate. I find 3.5" to be just about right. 3" or so would probably be ideal (If webOS weren't a dead platform I'd still be using my HP Veer). A smartphone shouldn't require two hands to operate; if I'm going to need two hands I might as well be using a tablet.
Battery life is good. Stamina mode really does help quite a bit if you don't feel the need to be instantly notified every time somebody comments on your Facebook status or whatever (though you can even add individual apps to a whitelist if you like). If you are running JB and decide to use Google Now, expect a hit to battery life and performance; at least that's what I've experienced. You'll likely be out of juice by the end of the evening. Without Google Now, and with Stamina mode enabled, it was usually still around 40-50% when I plugged it in at night after moderate use that day.
I use this phone in the US on AT&T. After a couple of days using it with just swapping in my SIM from my iPhone, I lost HSPA speeds and was stuck on EDGE. As an unlocked phone, they seemed unable to automatically provision it to my account using the IMEI alone. After a tech support chat, they said it might take a couple of weeks to "get the device information into the system." I was back up to HSPA speeds a few days after that, however.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Wlass Good phone with terrible battery life.
It was my second phone from Sony. My first Xperia X1 was balanced and reliable. At first I really liked the new phone, fine design, high contrast screen, great sound.
But the battery is discharged in a few hours. I did everything that was recommended for the support page.
Thereafter I had only one short (5 min) call, and a couple of SMS and the battery is completely discharged in a day, without the Internet, music, video, photos, games, reading books.
I did not expect this is crude product from my favorite brand and upset about it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1962ko Very disapointed
No front camera was a disappointment. The biggest problem was the battery depleting very fast and the charging connector on the phone broke several times. Not happy at all with a SONY product. I will never buy one again.

Lots of issues with phone.
1. Misleading advertise that it comes with in-box 2 GB microSD Card., When you open a box no microSD card found in it.
2. It will show battery full 100 % but cannot last for more than half hour.
4. When called customer care, they have worst customer service in retail and very very un-professional
After this back experience its better to return phone back to SONY.
