by Ragtoprider Great Camera....it does it all.
This is the SECOND one of these I have owned (gave the first to my local school), and this model is even better than the original. Battery life is exceptional, the OS is improved, and image quality stands up to the best. Compared to the Olympus and Pentax rugged cameras (both of which I have had), the Sony is best, hands down.
Great candids, HD video, good macro feature, background defocus and amazing landscapes..and the fact that it is a true all-weather camera is huge. Having dropped and and damaged cameras in the past, I appreciate that it is so durable, and can withstand my butterfingers.
This is my go-to camera, ready in an instant, and is infinitely easier to have available, compared to my DSLR and obviously much better than a phone cam.
I have recommend this camera to friends many times over.

by KelliEllie Loved it so much I bought it twice!
When I purchased this camera, I was looking for something small and light that I could carry around with me on vacations and other kinds of trips. I knew that the camera had an underwater feature, but didn't really intend on using it very much, because I was skeptical. My family takes most of our vacations in the Caribbean and spend lots of time in the water and at the lake. So i decided to very cautiously take my little camera for a spin in the water. I was so over joyed with the outcome I can not believe I ever doubted it for a minute. The pictures are flawless and completely amazing! The more I used this camera the more I fell in love with it.
If you plan on using this in the water a lot though I would be careful and do a check of all openings and crevices before entering the water. Sadly my first device became compromised and got water in it after 3 years, but I was so pleased with the camera I have purchased it again!

by MAAZIK GOOD CAMERA - BAD WITH WATER
I always buy Sony products, but this one is an epic fail - This is my 3rd TX camera -it is a great improvement from the previous models specially being waterproof - which brings me to the problem...the first time underwater it got a salt water leak, started making weird sounds and rusting, also the lens has vapor inside - I just took it once to the ocean & once to the pool for 5 minutes.
YES I checked that it was properly sealed before getting into the water - When I noticed the leak, I blew compressed air in and outside the camera, even got a microfiber towel inside the battery & SD card compartment to no avail, it is unusable now - I have a great beautiful camera that does not work.
I would recommend the camera but NOT for any water use.

I have always been an loyal customer to Sony, cell phone, audio and of course cameras! Believe it or not!! I have owned 3 cameras from the TX series. The 1st one TX10 lasted approx 18 months. The little plastic locked the battery door was broken. Since the warranty was over, I bought the TX20 as I really like the features of the TX series. 14 months later, the little blue plastic which used to keep the battery in place was broken. I was upset but my faith with Sony cameras was still there. I bought a TX30 and once AGAIN the little blue plastic thingy which kept the battery in place was no where to found. This time it was 13 months. I couldn't believe I bought the TX cameras 3 TIMES and each upgraded version were having the same problem with the plastic battery lock. I had to say I am totally disappointed even though I love this series so much that I bought it THREE times!! I don't mind paying a premium for the Sony brand but the quality of this camera really didn't make sense with its price tag. From one frustrated and disappointed Sony customer.

I had an older version of this camera (tx10) that I loved and used well until it leaked after 19 months. I hadn't bought the extended warranty on that one, so I replaced it with the tx30 and bought the warranty. Unfortunately it leaked after only 2 months of light use. I'm now in the process of having sony repair/replace it but I really would just like my money back.
This camera is not all the tx10 was. The flash on this one washes everyone out. Even people with darker complexions look ghostly white with the flash. I loved the 10shots/sec feature in the tx10. You got 10 clear crisp pictures. Unfortunately with the tx30 you just end up with 10 blurry pictures so it's useless. In any mode saving pictures takes several seconds so don't think you can capture two moments close together. I tried three cards (2 were new scandisk cards so this was the fault of the camera, not the memory.)
All in all just very disappointed and then it seals the deal by leaking in 1 foot of water after only having it for 2 months. Very disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by squarehead Love the camera, but not happy...
I have been a loyal Sony customer. I have recommended this camera to family and friends, and to date, SEVEN, yes SEVEN, people have bought it because of me (that sounds so selfish, but true. We joked that I should get commission...). The present underwater Cybershop is my third.
My first camera I bought on a whim, and it was the best thing ever! I used it for at least three or more years. Went on dozens of snorkel trips, stuck in every river or lake I came across when hiking, and often stuck it my beverages to show my friends that indeed it was waterproof. I took THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of pictures of great adventures and was a happy customer.
Then one sad day, on a snorkel trip, it no longer worked. Not sure if I got water into the system, but it was beyond repair. I saved my pennies and purchased a second one online. When it arrived there was something wrong with the lever that holds the battery inside. Noticed it right away, took it to the nearest Sony store, and within a few short days, they mailed me a new camera. It was hassle
Now, just a short 18 months later, the lever on the third camera completely broke off! I use my camera, but I certainly do not abuse it and this definitely should not have broke. The warranty is long gone. I live in Africa and cannot take it to a repair shop. I am seriously DOUBTING purchasing yet another camera.
I am so torn. I really love the camera. Love the lens. Love the wide angle. Love the features. Love the size. Love the battery life. Love the waterproofness. But I cannot afford to purchase a camera every two years. I really feel the last two cameras were poorly made, and they both had a problem with the same thing. It was like a factory defect.
I now need to buy another camera when I am back in Canada this summer...what do I do?

Rated 1 out of 5 by jdubyargh Worst Camera EVER do NOT BUY!!!
I bought this camera thinking that it would be a great Sony product, like my TV, PS systems, and previous Sony cyber shot cameras I have purchased in the past.....think again!!!! First I want to say the camera says it is safe to take in limited depths of water, but do not expose this camera to water, according to Sony warranty, water proof is not water proof, even though water proof should be water proof , it is not water proof. It was the biggest piece of false advertising I have ever run into in my life. My warranty repair was refused because of corrosion, but how does a water proof camera have corrosion unless the seal keeping the camera from being waterproof fails! Oh, and then try to call customer service, who can do nothing for you, or the warranty department who can also do nothing for you. Sony if you wonder why you're losing market share, start with your terrible customer service or your total lack or product support. I have been a lifelong Sony customer, from stereo systems, to MD players/recorders, computers and games systems, and something like this really is such a huge disappointment from a brand I trusted and thought I knew as a consumer. I can say this: after careful consideration I will never purchase another Sony camera again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Panch I really wanted to love this camera
after owning the t7 since 2005 it finally die in the end of 2013 so I though the tx30 would be just as great product but I was wrong, I bought my Tx30 on november of 2013 and by march 2014 it was dead "water seem to leak inside the camera" and now I only have a extra charger for my phone, camera never really work fine, it froze alot and just to get a red light by the battery almost every time I use it) only way to get it back to work was removing battery, I live in Mexico and for some reason sony store in mexico won cover sony product bought in the USA (I bought my TX30 in USA) on my last visit to San Diego this past May of 2014 took camera to sony store and they said they can not help me with my tx30 =/
I really want it to love the camera since I took some really cool and fun photos but for the hard earn money I paid and the short time it work is just really hard to like this product .
