Blu-ray Disc Player with Super Wi-Fi
Takes the place of a Smart TV
I don't have a Smart TV, but it is new and HD. What the S3100 did was to give my TV "the smarts". Registering the product and hooking up to the video service took some effort, but once completed it worked great. I've NEVER had a problem with streaming or interruptions, etc. The built-in Wi-Fi does all the work whenever I want to watch a movie etc. - I can remain DUMB - like my TV. I'm getting another one for my master bedroom. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Player, arrived quickly, easy setup. It recognized home network right away and was easily connected. Netflix, Amazon Prime, DVD played right away. Watched our son's school presentation on the TV same night and family was impressed, clear sharp picture. Great Purchase.

Will not stay connected to internet
I have the BDP-BX510 which appears to be the same device. Device will not stay connected to internet and wireless router is only 8 feet away. I spent time with Sony support two different days. Bascially if I reset the wireless router I can then connect to the internet. But I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERYTIME I TURN ON THE DVD PLAYER. I have 6 other devices that connected to the wireless router with no problems at all. The DVD wants WEP connection and router is setup for WPA. I will return the unit and try another manufacturer. Very disappointed to spend so much time on a device that won't work.

Misleading Advertising- Does Not Work with Hulu
I am usually pleased with my purchases from Sony. However, after purchasing this blu ray player to stream videos from Hulu I was greatly disappointed. The product description states it has the capabilities to stream from various Apps including Hulu. Sony's customer service was a nightmare, they kept blaming Hulu & my ISP rather than trying to alleviate the problem. After numerous fixes by Sony, Hulu & my ISP the device still won't stream Hulu smoothly. I am upset with Sony as Hulu streams perfectly through another manufacturer's blu ray player in a seperate room. I hope Sony will test their product more closely before advertising that their product has certain features. I have tried to compromise with Sony & asked to exchange this product for a model that works with no prevail. As an loyal customer of Sony I am deeply disheartened.
