Dissapointed. First one blackscreened and wouldn't charge or start.
When i brought it back to Bell they said it'd be repaired.
The waybill from the repair facility said my phone was fixed but it was physically a new phone (the writing on the xperia logo was worn off on mine, but this was fresh) so got lied to and it was replaced. Worked for a few more months now I am having my microphone not work on voice calls, and rarely being audible to the other party on speaker phone.
The first time it happened was while stuck on a logging road, and lucky i got my truck working as I had no way to call for support.
I doubt anyone will cover as there is a glass crack (which i don't care about and can live with), but the microphone is an issue. I know it wasn't caused by the crack as it predates it, and ive found many of the same problem via google.
I've had numerous Sony products and all have broken too early. Thought I'd give it another chance but sad to say once again that I've been dissapointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kyle0325 Best of Sony, indeed!
I got this phone cause I am currently vested in the Sony ecosystem and I love that all my video content from my PS3, My Play Memories Online, Music Unlimited, and Playstation Mobile games from my Vita can all be accessed on the Xperia ZL. It also has the best camera and music player ive ever had on a phone, and the rear speaker works very well. -not mind Blowing Sound- but very soild.
I chose this over the Z because I liked the few improvements in the ZL. The soft rubbery back makes it very comfortable to hold as well as -Hopefully- less prone to crack. The dedicated camera button is great and I actually like the placement of the front camera on the bottom of the phone. Picture quality on the screen is top notch, love the bravia engine, though the viewing angles arent as good.. But thats a minor complamt if its just you or another person looking at it. Other great features are the IR remote and nfc capable, both which Im using quite a bit. Lastly, all the games, both from the Playstation Mobile store and the android market have been runing super smoothy and the ability to hook up a ps3 controller is yet another feature that makes the modern Xperias the superior phones on the market.
-note, this model is not water resistant

Rated 1 out of 5 by Batteryissue Phone shutting down when not plugged to the wall
Nice phone when it worked...bought from Sony Store on the 01/04/2014, It suddenly shut down itself when taking a picture on the 04/12/2014. Since the phone is working only when using the wall charger (not that great for a mobile...).
Per some research on the internet, seems to be a "common" battery issue...so let's see how the warranty goes.
To be clear: phone did not fall, did not get water damage, except for the play station app, all apps were coming from the Google play store...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Devin Fantastic smartphone
Much better than the iPhone, the Xperia ZL offers Android functionality and a big beautiful HD screen. The design is very elegant, much nicer than the Samsung phones that to me seem rather cheap and juvenile. The camera is also great, capable of taking some very professional-looking photos. Sony has done an excellent job with this phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by h2oflyer Best 5in screen and easy to hold
Switched from a Galaxy S2 on 4.2 and could not not see going to a S4 with that smooth slippery shape, tired of thick industrial rubber cases. Carry my ZL in an elegant custom leather case.
Love the classy power button and dedicated camera button, Sound is crisp and clear, but not as loud as I would like. I don't think every one realizes how important that Battery Stamina is...I end the day with 20% more battery than my S2. Great job Sony!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Interstate78 The Android device to convert an iPhone user (me!)
I was a dedicated iPhone user until maybe 2 weeks ago when I first saw the XPERIA ZL. It is really one thing to see a picture of it and something else completely when you hold it in your hands. It is very light and so comfortable to hold for a device with a 5" screen (that you seriously must see to believe). The only thing that kept me from going Android was iTunes, which I found convenient and easy to use. Well I recommend that you find and watch a video of Sony's own "Walkman" app for their XPERIA line of phones (and Sony better start banking on it too!). It is SUBLIME and coming from the inventor of portable audio you can bet that it sounds great and the app's user interface is just second to none.
The best part though? When I connected my phone to my PC for the first time the phone asked me if I wanted to install the software on my PC and the software provided is just incredibly easy to use. I could hardly believe it was made by Sony, the same company whose horrible software for their minidisc devices still gives me nightmares to this day. It is actually able to retrieve crucial information you had from your last iPhone backup and even locates it for you. 10 minutes later and now all my photos, contacts and my entire music library is on my phone with matching artworks. I really did not expect this and it is such a tremendous advantage that it had to be mentioned.
Sony, you outdid yourself. I was excited when I bought the device but now, after a few days of use and discovering all the perks that make this such a tremendous upgrade over my iPhone, I couldn't ask for more and I have absolutely no regret.
*** One note though, the battery life of the device seemed to be low at first but you know how it is when you have a new toy, you keep playing with it. Thankfully, Sony's own battery management software and customizable "Stamina" mode gives it the same battery life I'm accustomed to from a smartphone but not better.
