Full HD Camcorder w/ 30x Optical Zoom
Possibly the best camera for it's price
First off I simply want to state that is about as high quality as you will get from a handycam without getting a professional one. The camera is very durable, the mic is very accurate and wind noise is greatly reduced, shots well at night, and is very easy to carry around. Although the battery does drain quite quickly since it is a high quality camera and it is limited to one slot of memory, which is fine for me. PMB is about the most useless program I've used in a while so don't count on that being great but overall this is the best bang for your buck HD camcorder in my opinion.

One of the better cams out there, but with flaws.
It is recommended that Sony stop information hiding on its web site. Display the good and bad specs. Don't let the American marketing team anywhere near Sony English Web sites.
Would it be so bad for a compact camcorder to have mic options? How about built in Bluetooth 4.0 for audio and remote?
How about making it more energy efficient? Its a miracle that this camcorder can compress H.264 faster then my Mac, but the battery life is short unless one uses the optional large batteries.
As for features, time lapse photo with battery saving features would be great. A fast high resolution photo capture during filming would also be nice.
A nice compact camcorder with good video quality, but for more serious filming that requires better audio and remote, this isn't it.

On a Mac? Forget about it.
If you try to use it on a Mac, get ready to dish out $19.99 to update Quicktime and then to have NO SOUND. Sound works just fine on the camera, but when you use it from the SD card, it transfers to an mpg file which Quicktime doesn't support.

Nothing short of remarkable
The HDR-CX130 is a marvel. Fantastic video. Enough controls to satisfy any amateur (it's not a prosumer camera). Very small form factor (but it makes it a little difficult to slip your hand through the strap and operate all of the controls easily). If photos were 8-12 MB vs the 3MB that it is, I would be inclined to use it in photo mode. Lens cover automatically opens and closes--nice touch. Built-in USB cable is nice touch but is VERYshort--need to use the extension cable they also provide. VERY, very happy with the video camera.
