All around great projector. We originally purchased the HW50es in nov of 2013. It performed great, but my wife realized two weeks after we purchased that a new model came out. We called sony and they took the 50es back(sony paid for expedited shipping) and sent us the new HW55es. Setup was simple. We mounted in on the ceiling in out theater. Every color and detail was spot on in reference mode. I upgraded from my Pioneer Elite PRO-111fd to my new 144" ultrawide projection display. Really and truly couldn't be happier with my purchase. Having a dedicated home theater in my home is really priceless. The 3D performance is almost flawless, very little ghosting with this projector. Switching to motion flow on low settings solves this issue while minimizing the "soap opera" effect most tv get from enhancing motion. That said, cinematic 3D (24fps) is more than acceptable for everything but the fastest motion and action scenes!! This projector is EPIC and for the money can't be beat!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nighty The screen size ROCKS
I had this projector professionally installed so I'm not sure about installation, however the picture on this thing is AWESOME. I ordered the 50 series because it was not too much more expensive than the 30 series and you get glasses and a replacement bulb with it, as well as a better picture. My other TV is still known as the television with the best picture EVER manufactured, a Pioneer Elite 60" plasma, and I use the Elite for everyday viewing and watching while I am working because I need light, but for a movie or a huge sports picture, this even exceeds the Pioneer. I actually watched a hockey game on this, not a big hockey fan on TV, and could follow the puck everywhere it went with no problem! As with any projector I've ever seen it has to be a dark room though, in light rooms the picture is not quite bright enough. As far as the 3D goes, I have watched a few movies and my kids and their friends have watched several and they all just love this projector, which is why I had to get a total of 8 pair of 3D glasses. They are not easy to find but ABT electronics had six pair in stock and I rushed right down and got them. I did know this before I purchased the projector, but BEWARE that each pair of glasses is about $125. Also know that it is not easy to find a place to RENT 3D movies. I have the NFL package from DirecTv and with the 60" Pioneer, when you went to the screen that shows 8 NFL games at one time, the pictures were all way too small, well with the projector each of the eight games is on a "screen" that is equivalent to a 31" TV! The person that installed did tell me that you should not get a cheap screen if you want the best picture you can get. I'm very happy with my purchase so far, and as far as Sony products go, with the exception of the Pioneer Elite TV, I would prefer Sony over just about any other brand, they hold up very well and are very good quality. A friend of mine bought my old Sony LCD TV, one of the first models that had a smaller back to the TV #compared with the older models which were about as heavy as a small car# and he still watches it daily and it still, to this day, has a better picture than many of these new cheap TV's do. Sony does cost a little more than some brands but I can tell you that you get what you pay for, and I tell anyone that asks for my opinion, with almost any electronic equipment, I would buy a Sony if you can swing the somewhat higher price. Good product and a very happy customer.
