Bluetooth Receiver with App Remote
Very good to Excellent but with some issues
The unit does feel better quality, compared to some of the units in its class, eg. I also had a look at the Pure range at Halfords but based on their reviews and the touch and feel I preferred the Sony, True the plastics used on Sony units are starting to look and feel cheaper than they did, but its still better in my opinion, than other non branded units.
Phone/hands free ( The main reason for purchasing the unit was for the hands free ) :
I have used this with a Lumia 800, with no issues at the moment.
The last Sony unit I had was around 7 years old with build in mic. it was just ok at making calls, and calls weren't always clear, due to the built in mic.
This unit has a separate mic. and after making calls on the motorways at 80mph , the calls have been clear. The mic has 3 levels of settings low/med/high. The preset keys 1 to 6 on the unit can be used to store quick dial numbers from your phone, This feature is Very useful. One of the most important features I think, is the fact that you have 2 volume settings one for the general music side and one for the phone so if you have music on very low or high , when the phone receives a call it will ring at whatever volume level you have set for the phone. If you receive a call, at the end of the call the unit reverts back to whatever was playing before the call. However if you make a call directly from the stereo using its keys , you have to physically set it back to cd/tuner/usb. You can make and receive calls from your phone and once the calls end, your music will restart, without touching the stereo. There are no quick one touch keys for cd/usb/tuner, you have to select the source button and use the control knob to select. will also list your last dialed and received calls from your phone.

I think the Nokias don't have any problems with this stereo, its asks if you want it read, you can have it read or ignore it, commands are understood and phone acts accordingly, you can also choose to reply and it will read back your reply, which you can choose to send or try again, in my opinion it is just short of excellent. However voice messaging with Androids does not work, I think this is down to androids and not the stereo, atleast it didn't work with my LG Nexus 4 However the Sony App.remote, works great and is a great feature only available for Androids and Apple. It allows you to remotely control the stereo
Sony App.Remote works great and is a great feature only available for Androids and Apple not available for Windows phones. It allows you to remotely control the stereo, after downloading the app. to use it you need to initiate it from the stereo menu, select sony app.
works great so far no problems in finding the music amongst other files. The search button on the unit allows you to quickly search through the files using the control knob, it is fast. Ive purchased a micro usb (cruizer) drive to keep it permanently plugged into the unit. Stoping and restarting the car often loses the last song you were playing, it seems to revert to first file, this is a nuisance. There is no logic to this sometimes it will keep its place and other times not.
Very useful to match with your dash , it has alot of nice colours, so I can take it out and put it into any other vehicle, to suit dash.
usefull to flick through music , will play a couple of seconds of tracks until you stop it.
fairly logical, you press the control knob and enter the menu system, turn the knob and select the desired function eg. sound, press and enter the various adjustment to sound. Bad points is that using the control knob whilst driving, bumps push your hand selecting something you don't want. To go back a step press the return button. I thought it was reasonably straight forward , but I can understand some people getting frustrated with it, as there are quite a few adjustments and a couple of sub menus particularly on the sound side. It just takes a little getting use to, if your not very technical or don't play around much with gadgets. That said its not much more complicated than a smart phones menu system so if you can use that, it wont be a problem.
no issues using cdrw, only issue with Sonys I found is that when fast forwarding or rewinding tracks is very slow and requires lengthy and tedious holding of the buttons, eg. 1 sec of pressing forward will advance the track by only 4-5 seconds so if you need to forward 30 seconds or more you can see its going to be painful.

Great Car Stereo Without Breaking The Bank
I bought this to replace the CD only stereo (not OEM) in my truck. The install was very simple with a separate connector to the OEM vehicle stereo plug (took about 10-15 minutes). Bluetooth sink with my Android phone was quick and simple, recognized immediately. Setting up the extra features took some learning curve but overall wasn't too bad. The cons are that it will not show the CD title or song name, just the track number but it does recognize the Bluetooth song names and radio info (if available). The bad part with the Bluetooth phone app is that the other party has a hard time hearing the conversation and says there is a lot of interference. I am going to by the Bluetooth microphone that plugs into the back of the system (recommended by setup instructions) and routes under the dash to the sun visor and see of that will help. Overall, I am very pleased with this stereo and recommend it to anyone who is on a budget but wants a good system.

good but not great
Not a bad little unit overall. I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of screen info when it came to the SriusXM data. It only shows the station ID, no current song/artist info at all. I also had an issue with the manual where on page 35 it talks about "RB ENH" (an option to set the rear speakers as sub-woofers if you don't have a sub) However...this unit doesn't have an "RB ENH" option so that was kinda confusing. The only reason I noticed this is because I accidentally (under a different subwoofer option) turned my rear speakers off and had to go through the manual trying to turn em back on.
On the plus side...the Bluetooth set up was fairly painless and works nicely.
