Great entry level blu ray player with a great price. And YESS!!! YOU NEED A ETHERNET CABLE!!! as does every other entry level model. Dont see the need for people posting negative reviews for their own mistake.

Easy to set up - just plug in to internet, plug in HDMI, register at Sony....already watched a DVD and am now enjoying Pandora...so easy - the remote even works both the player and my TV.

My husband purchased this Blu-ray player for the children to be able to watch their Blu-ray movies without having to use his new X-box One to do so. We were pleasantly surprised with the overall product. It works great for that purpose, even clearly reading some discs that I'd feared were too scratched to play anymore. It was very easy to learn all the controls and settings, even for my five year old son. It's withstood use and abuse from my young children for months without ever showing a bump, bruise, or any other issue. I often elect to use it to watch Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime instead of our other media devices, simply for ease of use and the format of these apps in the player. It connects online easily and quickly and streams basically without loading time. My only complaint about this Blu-ray player is that it doesn't connect wirelessly, but we knew that when we purchased it, so I don't complain too loudly. ;-)

I have never written a review before, but this on deserves one.
After returning a Ruko because it kept dropping my internet, and returning the Phillips media player that replaced the Roku, because the remote signal on the unit did not pick up the remote.
I purchased the least expensive one I could find, assuming it would not work either.
And I am not a Sony fan, I played EverQuest for years until Sony broke it.
To my pleasant surprise, this one works great!!
Easy set up, and I was so happy to see it supports Netflix new profiles feature.
Great job Sony, you have restored my faith in you. Still not playing EverQuest though :p

Great little player. doesn't come with a cord for tv, but like the WIFI feature it SAYS on the box that it doesn't have, so people don't be P/Oed' about your inability to read a box. I run a WD 2TB external drive works great. runs most formats AVI, MP4, and Many others.
Great player for the price. even on some smart TVs when you put a disk in it will turn on the TV and to the required input selection to watch the movie on, feature NOT on all smart TV's # Vizio # but would be great if you could down load an upgrade file to do so. but over all excellent player, backwards compatible on my several 100 DVD's
if you wanted WIFI you should have gotten the next version up #should have spent the few extra dollars# so people read the BOX before you buy
