The wifi works perfectly and is quick. On screen menu is easy to navigate and understand. Unit is small and light weight. Can fit anywhere. The upgraded picture feature for DVD is amazing. Blue ray is an epic experience ( Sounds and visionally). Over all great addition to my home theatre system!

by Shacojin Elegance of Sony
Saw the BDP-S3100 at CES 2013 and I was looking into investing in a new blu-ray player since the one I originally bought was a bit sluggish now a days, but still a great piece of tech at the time *Roughly 6 years or so*. I personally love the new design, it’s very beautifully eye catching and its very tiny compared to the original blu-ray player I owned which is fairly large and heavy. Connecting the device to my HDTV is easy enough, although I believe Sony should have packaged an HDMI cable with it. Once plugged in and activated, the menu is very easy to navigate through and similar to the XMB user interface. Loading dvds are naturally fast but what I noticed was the load speed of the blu-rays which were compared to my old blu-ray player, very very quick. Exploring the blu-ray player you will find what I would believe are very common features like looking at your personal pictures and videos or music from either a CD or USB device. All of that is great of course. Then there is the super wifi feature that allows you to not only stream your personal media from your own PC, but allows you to watch NETFLIX or Amazon Prime as well as check your FACEBOOK and other apps as well like Sony’s Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited. The remote is simple to understand and use, also note if you are an avid NETFLIX user like myself who loves “House of Cards” there is a convenient button on the remote “NETFLIX” you press it and it takes you directly there, easy. If you have a Bravia TV and you can utilize the Bravia Sync feature on both, you can unify their connection. If you also have a smart phone or tablet device you can download an APP called TV Sideview and you can control your bluray player with your device of choice. Pretty cool. Overall, beautiful design to go with your entertainment system and great overall performance and abundant features for a Blu-ray player I give this an A++ Highly recommend especially at the price.

I am usually pleased with my purchases from Sony. However, after purchasing this blu ray player to stream videos from Hulu I was greatly disappointed. The product description states it has the capabilities to stream from various Apps including Hulu. Sony's customer service was a nightmare, they kept blaming Hulu & my ISP rather than trying to alleviate the problem. After numerous fixes by Sony, Hulu & my ISP the device still won't stream Hulu smoothly. I am upset with Sony as Hulu streams perfectly through another manufacturer's blu ray player in a seperate room. I hope Sony will test their product more closely before advertising that their product has certain features. I have tried to compromise with Sony & asked to exchange this product for a model that works with no prevail. As an loyal customer of Sony I am deeply disheartened.

I just recently set up a Wi-Fi router in my small home, and since I'm a Mac user, I went ahead and bought an Apple TV unit I could use to watch and listen to iTunes Store purchases and rentals with it. I bought the Sony Blu-ray player afterwards, only to find out it had a lot of the same capabilities as the Apple TV, and more... plus the streaming quality (on Netflix, for example) seemed better than the other unit. Of course I'm also happy with DVD viewing and function, but I had no idea all these other features were available. Overall I use the Sony much more on movie night; the only thing it can't do is stream my iTunes content from my Mac, and at $20-$30 dollars less (depending who you purchase it from), had I been forearmed with this info, I probably would have just bought and been happy with the Blu-ray. I would recommend this unit to anyone set up for Wi-Fi in their home — between Netflix and Amazon Instant Video, I may not even need to make any more DVD purchases!

Small & compact if space is an issue. Within a month dvd door hanging, So far still functionable but flimsy to be sure. Owned a few months now & still have not figured out how volume or color coded buttons work? It does have a small operating instruction booklet [unusual these days] which says one hdmi cable included, however the best buy salesperson told me I would need it & she was right. Another 10$. It work wireless. The remote is rectangular & if you're in a dark area you don't know if it's up or down & push the wrong button you might have to start over [pain] illuminating the remote would be helpful. I registered the product, problem is even though reg. serial # correct it registered a different bl-ray player now whether this interferes with apps working incorrectly IDK but for now I keep it simple & just use the player for dvds & netflix & use very few buttons on remote. Both laptop & tv wireless but i can stream url & videos on pc with no buffering can't on TV or enhanced features leave a lot to be desired.
