Rated 4 out of 5 by Diehard Excellent Exmor R sensor , Slow motion 120fps
I tested on ski hills ,moguls, lots of shocks even to -30 C temperature , Sony did excellent research in design its Exmor R sensor, very good at poor lighting conditions , it gave the best slow motion 120fps (1280x720p only) capture so all your high vibration actions can be watched on big screen without headache or dizziness scene. In SONY corp. The chief designer of this action Cam understand a lot about movie production, he knew that you must be able to capture a clear, nice and steady motion picture so that after editing plus adding music and narration all your audiences love to watch your presentation. Sony had lot of experience in making Top- of- the- Line Movie Production Cameras.
Sony AS-15 had built in all the necessary tools for capturing your shocking footage in tough environment , even adding image stabilization to help you to produce your best movie for presentation.
I had use some of my action footage editing in Final Cut Pro X , making a movie of my skiing trip, no one feel dizziness, everyone enjoy watching.
Sony's raw recording format is Mp4,require transcoding to Apple ProRes 422 before ingestion. Takes a little more time . Final Cut Pro X could do back ground transcoding.
Exmor R sensor is superior than those in GoPro.
Sony AS-15 Housing is also excellent for use in SCUBA Diving up to 180 Ft water proof.
NO other P.O.V. Cam can give you this advantage today as Jan.13. 2013.
I could use this AS-15 as a backup hands free under water Camera especially in CAVE Diving. Excellent for mounting in front of an under water Diving propulsion Vehicle (DPV)
Those use by Naval SEAL.
Sony MUST improve all the possibilities in mounting option including a micro BALL JOINT mounting platform in module design , like LEGO blocks can be assemble any way you want , in any situation you need.
SONY you are good at listening to expert opinion when designing your Pro Cam FS-700, Please give your Action Cam to different action experts to try to mount and use. e.g. Skier, snowboarder ,Surfer, Sky Diver, Scuba diver, Mountaineer, rock climber, Racing Car driver, Stunt man....
Snow mobiler, Skidooer , Military special operation units, Fire departments search and rescue unit......also movie production director....see what mounting options may be need to improve your die hard camera .
Next .. you must improve to 240 fps and at 1920x1080 p. because other POV cam brand manufacturer knew the advantage of slow motion capture is vital for beautiful and enjoyable movie production to please their audiences . Go Pro will catch up soon.
Other brand name Point-Of -View (POV) Cam , others battery did not last that long in freezing cold -24.5 C for over 4 hours, I believe the AS-15 housing protect its Li-ion battery good enough. Sony's NP-BX1 is 3.6V.,1240mAh last very long, because of As-15's Auto energy saving ,auto shut down feature is excellent. Sony'As-15 also had a large red button 100% positive feedback when Press plus immediately wake up your camera to shoot within 1 Sec. I can press it to record my action even wearing thick mittens in -30 C wind Chill, on top of Sunshine Village Continental Divide , Alberta, Canada. Also give a Chime signal confirm ON, different beep sound for OFF. I can hear those chime when the wind is not too strong and loud.
Go Pro Action Cam did not had these. But Go Pro's CEO is a die hard action hero, he knew everything about mounting option so that they create almost all kind of mounting option ,even a ball joint mount that can be tilted at any position , allow mounting on your helmet filming your own facial expression . Excellent for filming SKY DIVING, the SkyDiver can see his facial expression plus the vertical drop scene that he is away from his plane farther and farther away. But their footage is too much vibration . Even I put it in editing software to do retiming ,slow motion is still not as fluid as those original footage created by Sony AS-15.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Chinasyndrome Where's the engineering?
What has happened to Sony's engineering. I've been purchasing sony hardware and software for decades.Going on reviews I purchased 2 camera kits from Tanguay ($299) The picture quality was the noisiest I've ever seen. One camera was already opened and dirty and the other was missing a battery tray. I shot a short piece with the camera mounted on a pico dolly looking out a big bay window with 4 sections. the first and last panes were the proper colour but in the 2 center panes the sky had turned turquoise. Super grainy and extremely noisey in moderate light. And it was the same for both cameras. This product is good for kids shooting a day playing. If your serious about getting a POV shop up as this camera is worth about $100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by skierforlife amazing camera
I absolutely love this camera, i use it for all of my outdoor adventures, everywhere form skiing, to biking, to quading and snowmobiling. this camera runs very smooth and even in bad crashes, has never had black screens or even small hiccups. when skiing and snowmobiling there is always snow that flys up but the snow doesn't not stick to the lens thanks to the rounded lens. overall a very good camera and never skips a beat (or frame).

by betterworld Stabilized, 1080p60, slow motion p120 - HDRAS15
1. The stabilizer is a big deal.
2. HD mode 1080p60 now after the firmware upgrade v.3.
3. The Super slow mode 720p120 is a great option.
1. The shape factor: nicely fit into hand grip, but I would prefer rectangle bottom to put on a table.
2. The back door is too loose.
3. The waterproof case is great option for underwater shooting but too big for water-resistant conditions (like snow, some rain). I would make only one back door for everything (battery, memory card, USB, video out, mic) and touch sensitive screen for controls, OR a remote control (for those who has no smart phone). I would also cover the mic with one big waterproof removable plastic screw which one can remove with finger nail or a quarter or dime (or small ridge on the top).
A tight case from soft plastic will probably also make it water-resistant (two oval cylinder caps inserted each in the other (one smaller and one bigger, one with a hole for objective, see the picture attached).
Is it possible to make it a night vision (IR camera) option within same size?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skyboy141 Great for Time Lapse
I love this camera. It's more than just an action camera. you can shoot regular video and get high quality image AND stereo sound. mount it onto something and take sports or action video and the steady shot makes even bumpy rides into a very smooth video. Time lapse is absolutely awesome. So far I was able to take 2025 pictures with one battery (5 second intervals). That was about 3 hours. low light time lapse isn't as great, but still better quality than other action cams out there. day time is crystal clear images and here's a time lapse of the sun going down at the beach for an example. Overall, very fun and easy to use and works very well for great quality!

Full HD Video, Waterproof, Built-In WiFi, Exmor R CMOS Sensor, Ultra Wide Angle Carl Zeiss Lens, Micro HDMI Out. Muffled Audio Inside The Case,Out Next/Prev Buttons Unreachable Inside Case. Altogether a great POV cam, I would recomend putting a 4K sensor on the cam, like the GoPro Hero3 Black Edition.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HighMarkAdventures Great but could be awesome!!!
Like the title says great but could be awesome. The audio capture on this thing is the best for a pov camera hands down. I also have a gopro and a contour HD. Sad it is unable to rotate the camera head like the contour for different mounting options or be able to flip the video 180 degrees like a hero. Yes it can be done it post but still annoying. Also the photos are only 2 mp an the timelapse interval starts at 5 seconds WTF. Here is hoping a firmware upgrade will correct the photo image quality and give better options on the timelapse side of things.
For the price it is a great little camera, picture quality is good ,audio is awesome and when in live view using the app you can watch realtime while recording unlike the gopro that has a huge lag.
Sony you have Vegas editing software in house. It would be nice to see a toned down version to make life easier as Play Memories not so great............
Cmon Sony give us a firmware upgrade to fix a few of these quirks......but all in all it is still a great little pov camera and won`t disappoint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by xzcvczx Few Issues
Its a great camera that i have used for many different things, including white water rafting, using indoors and it hasn't failed me, but there are a few things that need to be changed, adjustable and added to really be worth 5 stars, these include
1. Side helmet mount
2. Ability to change the playback fps for the videos shot at above 30fps.. This would also affect whether sound is recorded at the higher framerates, (or a way to record the sound seperately and it could be added into the movie later), (I fail to understand why the video is all written to be played back at 30fps)... If this feature is not introduced i doubt i will stay with sony as its really annoying try to show someone a video when its not got the right framerate for real time and being unable to have audio on it, as for action sports 30fps really isn't enough.
3. Ability to change the volume/mute the tones when starting/stopping recording (When used with the top helmet mount inside the waterproof case it is almost impossible to hear the tone and whether it is the start or the stop tone) and it could be useful to have it silenced at times.
