i purchased the a6000 about a month ago. I upgraded from the Nex-3. The a6000 is a huge jump forward from the Nex lineup. As a Nex owner I had already invested in some E-mount glass. I have shot along side the big names and constantly leave others amazed at the clarity and dynamic range of this little device.
That having been said I do have some issues with it. I would have preferred Sony to use a standard hotshoe, for some reason they have a fascination with proprietary connections for many of their devices.
As was mentioned in some of the other reviews battery life could be better, but considering the size of the body I think it is OK.
I love the fact that all of its buttons are customizable, i just wish that the C1 button was on top of the body between the setting wheel and the flash, and the C3 button was located higher up on the back panel.
As far as a touch screen goes I have never had or used a camera with one so I don't see it as a shortcoming for not having one.
My Biggest fear with this camera is that rather than Sony release consistent quality firmware updates they will simply release a new camera like they did with the Nex line. I would love to see some quality fast primes be released. 85f1.4 anyone?

What an amazing piece of electronics. I tracked this camera as soon as Sony announced it was coming out. I scoured the internet for a couple of months to read professional reviews on the abilities and capabilities of this machine. Almost every review I read the reviewer was impressed to say the least. I finally purchased the camera in a bundle that came with the kit lens 16-50mm and the 55-210mm. This machine rocks. Every photo it takes is stunning. I have been shooting for about 8 years. I am blown away every time I turn it on. I also purchased the 50mm 1.8. The bokeh this lens produces is great. I also want to pick up the 35mm 1.8 as well.
I brought the camera and lenses to work to show an amateur photographer I know. He shots with Nikon. Very talented. He was very impressed. After I changed lenses to the 50mm 1.8, he took a few shots and reviewed them. He asked, "How much did you pay for this?" I told him. He said he wanted to pick one up because of how fast it focused and the amount of shots per second it can do and the quality and color rendering of each shot.
The camera itself has a lot of features I was unaware of before I bought it. I have read through the manual a few time so far. I pick up one more tweak every time I read it. There is a menu in the camera with great special effects.
I highly recommend at least go check it out. Pick it up, play around with the features . You will be impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SanP SO HAPPY with the a6000
There are times when I don't feel like lugging around my Sony a77 DSLR, but at the same time, I don't want to settle for the limitations of a point and shoot. The a6000 is perfect for this reason. I decided to get the body only and purchased the Sony E-Mount 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 zoom lens separately. So far, GREAT combination. Very easy to use and most importantly, it takes very clear and crisp photos. Great little camera. It's also great in indoor low-light, action, landscape, portrait...
Additionally, I also purchased the 50mm 1.8 prime lens and the 20mm 2.8 prime. I love the output of these lens combinations with the a6000.
To boot, if you own an A77 or other Sony Alpha DSLR SLT camera, you may want to consider in investing in the Sony A-Mount to E-Mount (LAEA4) Adapter. It costs about $350. The pros are that you can use your A-Mount lenses on an E-Mount camera, like the a6000. The cons are that a6000's 179 phase-detect points is decreased to 15 phase-detect points. You still get a really nice output of photos.
The only cons to owning the a6000 is the battery life, which is just ok. Hoping that Sony comes out with a battery with a longer life. Also, and this is picky, the hot-shoe does not come with a protective cover and is just exposed. Lastly, I love that the LCD screen folds out. However, I wish that, like the A77 that it would fold inward so that the glass is not exposed. Also, it would have been nice if the LCD was a touch screen.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the a6000. I love it! LOVE IT!!!!

Finally a mirrorless camera that is better than a DSLR! I finally sold my DSLR gears after purchasing the A6000 & the 16-70 f4 Zeiss.
The Good: Great sensor with lots of resolution and dynamic range. Very responsive and the EVF provided a great shooting experience. Almost all buttons are customizable. Very easy to download photos to my iPad/ iPhone via Wi-Fi.
Can be improved: the LCD screen is nice but sometimes it is difficult to see under bright sunlight (minor problem since I can use EVF in these situation).
Note: I wish Sony will provide a firmware update to let me use the built-in flash to trigger an off-camera flash. This would make the A6000 a perfect camera!

Just purchased the a6000. Great camera. I'm very happy my purchase. The menu system is a little difficult. The very small manual doesn't explain in detail what each setting does. I come from a Nikon (D100-D200-D700) background where each feature is over-explained. My biggest complaint is when I try to get more info from the Sony support site it says coming soon...product will be release sooon...Come on Sony...update the website. Even my review here says a preview review.

Purchased this camera on a trip to Los Angeles at Samy's Camera. Been carrying my D90 around every day and wanted to get a solid but lighter in weight camera that would not compromise my photography. This was recommended and I absolutely love it. I am going to sell a couple of my other cameras because this one is truly one I can accomplish almost all of my objectives.

I love this camera. I was looking for a smaller camera to replace my Canon 5D Mark III for vacations and general walk-around. I've been a Canon shooter for over 15 years but I feel (at the moment) they just don't have anything worth owning in the mirrorless (I've owned and sold my EOS M). I started reading reviews of Sony mirrorless cams and saw the features of this camera so I had to give it a shot. This camera is great, fast and accurate (auto focusing is incredible). So very happy with my choice. I ended up buying it with the Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS (I only wish it was a constant of f/2.8 to get a bit more light).
Here is a video I just shot with it:

Own Nikon, Canon and Sony Nex5 cameras.....this camera takes best quality photos in lower lighting....took same photos using Nex5 and A6000 with same lens......the A6000 was amazingly quicker to and sharper in focus....cousin has Nex7....photos with this camera are equivalent....wireless works seamlessly with android phone...WOW.....the menus are wonderfully simple/accessible and light-years ahead of those on Nex5....
