by BimmerBEN335i I LOVE IT!!!
Being as technical as I am, when buying something of electronics nature, I have to research before buying, I research for a few months and then I was convinced that this was going to be a definitely happy buy, the SONY 65" XBR 4K, is indeed AWESOME! all the reviews you might hear from Sony or anyone are more than likely on key, because the picture quality is amazing, I still can't get over how clear it is. I will say this, I had Comcast, sorry but I ditch them and got me a RCA indoor antenna with HDTV broadcasting around 60$, High Definition, OH YEAH, I am not a big tv fan so, I only need the basics why pay Comcast when it's available in HD, well most of the channels, this was a definite buy, I 100% recommend it, it's a must have... like my headline "I LOVE IT!" oh and by the way, setup was a cinch, get your HDMI cables and connect also don't forget your optical cable for sound which connects to our home theater sound system, oh that's also SONY too :) LOVE IT!! I am a SONY fan, so I know quality when I see it, I buy nothing of low quality. So yea, if you've got the money for it, don't hesitate, just buy it, I can promise you this, you will LOVE IT! Oh I also bought a Sony 4K Blu-Ray play with HD upscaler to complete my entertainment set.

by DJZION the best TV but horrible white glove service
Stunning TV, very good picture quality. I had Verizon Fios Ultra HD that streams only in 720, but i could clearly make out that the upscaling was great ! Netflix 4K content is decent. Overall a truly stunning experience. Some cable channels are decent not great but its when you switch to the movie channels, everything looks fabulous. Good job sony.
My only horrible experience was the white glove that was horrible.
I had to lift the TV 2 floors myself (just one guy came) and then they didnt even bother to install this properly. They didnt even have a proper screw driver, left stains oall over the new TV, totally horiible experience. you are better off just getting the standard free shipping since you will do most of the work yourself.

- Every time Sony updates this TV, I loose some of my remote functions on HDMI 1 input (my DirecTV Genie's input). I loose the HOME and OPTION buttons functions until I do a manual reset on the TV. This is very frustrating.
- The reflection off the screen of the rooms lights and windows Is VERY distracting. For a perfect presentation make sure the room in dark.
- There are not many 4K sources for this system yet. DirecTV tells me that they do not know when they will have it available. Netflix is adding more 4k movies everyday, but you need 20MB of internet speed or greater to stream them with out the system having to revert to 1080i and upscale the video. You can purchase a 4k media player for $700 then buy the UHD 4k videos from Sony for $35+ and download approximately 1 video over a 10MB internet connection in only 3 to 5 hrs. :)
- Best image ever. Almost natural 3D appearance in 2D 4k video.

The 64.5" Sony X850B is an upgrade to my previous 50" plasma TV that finally conked out. I wanted to get a 4K TV to future proof my new purchase but was a bit worried if LCD picture quality could truly compare to plasma's. I've now had the Sony 64.5" X850B for a few months and it's surpassed all of my expectations. I'm really happy with the TV's vibrant colors that are realistic and really pop. I think the Triluminos technology is what really differentiates Sony from the other 4K TVs in the market. I especially appreciate that I didn't have to make any changes to the picture settings which were very good straight out of the box. Although there isn't much 4K content out there yet, the 4K upscaling of existing 1080p content is very nice for now. The Smart TV functions are ok and work as expected (I mostly just use Netflix and Amazon Video). The two included remotes are ok, but I use my cable box remote to control the TV power, channels, and volume. I tried the 3D function once, and that was enough for me to know it works but I really don't care to wear glasses to watch a movie in my living room. I use a Yamaha receiver and 5.1 external speakers for surround sound; the set up was very simple, and my receiver works seamlessly with the TV. Great picture, great sound, what else could I ask for? One side note: I almost didn't consider this model because I have my TV sitting on a corner table that is not quite as wide as the TV. Most of the X850B pictures show it with the leg stands on the corner edges of the TV ( I guess this allows a sound bar to sit in front of the TV), but those legs can be moved toward the center of the TV which works better for my setup. To hide the power cord and HDMI cables I taped them to the back of the leg stand. All in all, I would highly recommend the Sony X850B.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MylesW For want of a Factory Seal...
The TV is great. Color is great. On screen menus are easy to understand. 5 stars for all that, and I would recommend to a friend.
So why 2-stars?
Because there is NO WAY TO KNOW IF ITS AN UNOPENED BOX.
Bought the TV from Fry's Electronics for over $3K, took it home, and opened the box per the instructions. There were NO factory seals anywhere. I could just put it back into the box and you wouldn't know it was ever opened. It could be a returned item, or been used as a demo by the store. There's just no way to tell.
If you buy a $100 DVD player, the box has factory seals on it to indicate an un-tampered and un-opened box, so why not for a $3000 TV?
I emailed Sony Support (Case ID 3054127), and after 30 days they wrote back that I should call their Support Phone Number. I called the Support Phone Number and the guy couldn't get it through his head that SONY has a problem. He kept trying to tell me it was Fry's problem, and that I needed to contact them. Really? Fry's should put a Factory Seal on Sony's Product Packaging?
A suggestion for all who buy one at their local Electronics Dealer. Open the box before you drive it home and check that everything is inside... You still won't know if you're the first to open it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KatyB Best TV picture ever
We searched and researched every TV out there. We were looking for a 65 inch 4k to hang on the wall. We had narrowed our search to 2 TVs....Sony and Samsung. We decided to go with the Sony because the view from the side is so much better on the Sony. We love it and the picture is beautiful. It feels as if you are actually there, especially a football game. This is the best TV ever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4KHTPC Real, Solid 4k From Any (Capable) Source
If you are like me and have been holding off on getting a 4K TV so you don't get an early, broken implementation of the standard, this is the offering for you. It's a premium set with a justifiable price, unlike some $10,000+ "halo" products with questionable specification improvements.
This TV has perfect room presence. The minimal stand and muted bezel get out of the way and let the content speak for itself. Setup was extremely, fascinatingly simple. The base legs accommodates both wide and short stands, and can be inserted either at the far edges or towards the middle. Stability seems great; I have bumped the screen getting audio connections set up in the entertainment center and there was no wobble.
Image quality is fantastic. More than one person asked if standard 1080p content was displaying in 3D because the image depth and frame rate correction really boost the picture. And this is not the annoying, obvious, super-soap-opera frame interpolation of the last few years. This is the real deal. I have been using multiple 4k computer monitors and sophisticated video frame rate correction software for some time now, so I'm familiar with what real UHD content at real UHD bandwidths looks like. This is not smoke and mirror backlight flashing coupled with a framerate computer users have avoided for more than a decade--this is a new level of video quality.
You will have to chase your guests from the house. The very same day I set up this TV in my house I had guests on my couch long after I had to leave for business meetings. They were enraptured by this TV. You may want to buy less comfortable seating for your home theater to discourage overnighters, and I strongly recommend not stocking any snacks--they will disappear.

Amazing TV. Incredible picture.
While I can't say that I can tell a difference in a 4K vs 1080p image from my sofa, up close, the 4K images look like you are looking out a window. It's truly incredible.
The features are quite nice and robust as well.
The only downside is that if you choose to use the TV speakers, the optical output is only in 2 channel PCM. If you want to get DD out of the optical, you have to set the TV not to use its own speakers and you are forced to always use your audio system. But that is somewhat minor.
Overall I am very pleased after 3 days.
