This s my fifth TV, and every single one of them has had 3 or 4 white shades only visible when the mage on the background moves. Call your friends who owns it and try to locate the stains.

by TechnoAddict Excellent Quality for Price.
The passive 3D is amazing and comes with glasses that are lightweight and also affordable. I could not believe the picture quality of this product. It is superb compared to other products of its class. The only down side is the large bulky stand, which I feel Sony should have better designed it as this makes it hard to use any soundbar or other device in front of the TV. Overall, for the price, you will not regret this purchase. If it wasn't for the speaker placements and the stand I would have gave 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pnfern what Can I say, IT IS A SONY. That says it all
I looked at every 60 inch TV made by every manufacture trying to get the most for my investment. This was not an easy purchase. Money was tight and Grand-kids were giving me a hard time about my old TV. After months of searching, I went with a proven product, I did not buy the cheapest TV but went with the best TV. Every Sony I have ever owned lasted for years. The only Time I bought a different make was a Panasonic and I hated it. Sony is more than a TV, iT is an investment and this one has been great. The picture is clear the 3D is like going to the movies. My grand-kids love to watch 3D on the TV and it is fun for us old people to see them reach out to grab what they think is coming out of the TV. I love that I can connect my Direct TV directly to the TV without needing a box. It made hanging on the wall easier. Did not have as many wires to deal with. This is a purchase I can enjoy without worry. I know it will work each time like the first.
I would not buy any other TV then Sony and the 60 in R550 is just another great Sony product.

This TV is one of the best, if not the best I have ever owned....so far. As electronics go these days, only time can tell if it holds up and continues to be a great investment. TVs have changed so much through the years that it is not really comparing Apples to Apples anymore, but comparing as a whole, the only other TVs I've had that were as good was an old RCA 22" Color-trak back in the day-circa 78' and a 23" Mitsubishi circa 95' that was a gem and really the last piece of furniture type TVs that my wife and I had. I also currently have a 47" Philips LCD that I love, and is a 2008 model, but this Sony actually surpasses that in many ways(which I thought was impossible, as I have always loved Philips products)...The 60" R550A LED/LCD-SuperHD-3D- WiFi TV is a great investment in my book. Not quite as crisp as the new 4K TVs, but very, very close and a lot less money...but again, things progress so fast these days with Electronics, we aren't comparing Apples anymore....Enjoy and I Highly Recommend the 60" Sony everyone! I hope this review helps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by stereonate Great TV for the price
It's a great set for the price, and it did not take long to dial in the image in the User Setting, good sound so you don't need a sound-bar but the bottom rear of the set is thick as a result.

Overall the TV is great . the motion flow technology is way better then 600Hz plasma. Passive 3D is better then Active 3D. Sound is top notch. Go for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BoilerG Pretty good overall
We were looking at one of the newer Samsungs in this price range, and due to an out of stock, went with the Sony. For background, I'm an audio/video enthusiast who appreciates and notices picture quality. We have a 106" dedicated screening room with a JVC-RS1X, which I'm using as a comparison for picture quality.
first the pros:
-Some good features included, such as Netflix, Pandora, etc. Browsing some of the apps can be tedious, however, and I haven't been able to figure out how to create shortcuts. Would have been nice if the remote included a keyboard. Also disappointed that Skype is missing on this model.
-Passive 3D works pretty well. I prefer it over active 3D, and consensus appears to be that passive reduces headaches and eye strain. I haven't had any issues with the 3D, nor has anyone complained. I thought there would be a drop off with image quality with passive 3D on a 1080p screen (each eye only sees half the pixels), but I've been pleased with quality with DirecTV 3D programming. Haven't tried a 3D Bluray yet. Another advantage to passive 3D is that the glasses are much cheaper and do not require charging or batteries.
-Picture quality is more natural than some of the Samsung models which are brighter. Over extended viewing, I'm glad we got the Sony as the Samsung's would have been nice for our bright family room, but they looked less natural and may have caused strain over extended viewing. The colors appear more natural on this Sony
-Glare resistance is decent. Not completely glare resistant in bight rooms, but does a decent job by not being a high gloss screen
-I like having 4 HDMI inputs and a digital audio out, making this tv compatible with an older AV receiver
-I liked the styling as well. In the store, the Samsung looked a bit cooler, but the Sony integrates much more nicely into our room. Samsung would not have fit in the same way. This TV is modern and eye catching, yet not overpowering.
-With most content, the 120HZ processing creates a very smooth image. It does have the "soap opera" effect, but the motion is silky smooth
-It's great that YouTube on both our Andriod, iPad, iPhone, etc can be played on the TV screen with a click of a button.
Now, some of the areas I haven't been as impressed.
-The video processing is adequate, but I get a much cleaner image with the JVC projector. I was a bit disappointed at the digital noise reduction, particularly during high motion images. I can only compare it to smaller screens and the JVC projector. Most viewers won't notice this as an issue, but it was worth calling out. This is more noticeable when you are closer to the screen.
-With some content, motion gets a bit choppy. Poorly broadcast content sometimes gets difficult to watch, and in these instances, you'd be best served to turn off processing.
-I couldn't get my Android screen to mirror on the TV. Just kept giving me an error and I gave up. I'm using an HTC One.
All in all, if you want a natural looking picture, Sony quality, and some of the more useful smart TV apps. 3D quality and processing are par for this price point. I'm generally pleased with the price/value of this TV.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Destin Worst customer service ever
Was told the shipping day was on a specific day, then called a week after the shipping day to hear the product was still waiting to be shipped. I asked to speak to the manager, whom stated 'that's just the way things are', told me that I could not get my money back, then hung up the phone. I will always hate you Sony! How do you stay in business with these types of standards?
