Rated 5 out of 5 by mybmw68 Excellent Black, contrast and performance
Bought mine at BestBuy, Winnipeg. I've been looking for a long time for this one and i got mine on October this year. From out of the box, the picture is so clear, crisp and just too bright. Well, depends on your eye's expectation.
After a month, my tv was calibrated by geek squad. Honestly, i wasn't happy on the result after they calibrated my tv. The $299 amount for calibration is not worth.
I ended up calibrating the TV myself. I used Spears and Munsil disc for calibration and for comparison purposes I've used Disney WOW calibration disc as well. After i calibrated by myself, i was amazed and very much happy. WOAAAAHHH! that was my expression.
For the price of this TV, i would say very worth it but still pricey. :)

by jkmw First 3D experience
This set is the most realistic TV I have ever watched. The black and white levels are unheard of in a set this 'inexpensive'. Still pricey, no doubt about it, but until now you had to pay twice, even three times the price to get this kind of realism, #compared with this sets' latest sale price#.
3D REALLY works and is very enjoyable....It still takes a bit of getting used to, #it's not a prefect process yet#, but it is vastly superior to "old fashioned" 3D during which you had to wear red and blue colored lenses. The newer 3D process still has problems with things like words and detailed images and I found my eyes and brain trying to make sense out of parts of a screeen image that just aren't right yet. This can cause eye strain and headaches. When I stopped trying to resolve these areas and enjoyed the overall effect, I found the new process to be very effective.
Regarding the off-axis bloom, I find virtually none of this within our measured 7' wide seating area about 9' back from the screen, this equates to a viewing angle of about 20 degrees on either side of perpendicular.
If there is one weakness, it's the sound. Very narrow frequency response and NO bass. I use a sound bar to bring viewing and listening pleasure up to equal levels.
The image on this set is inspiring and in my estimation is worth the current sale price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MattinNH Great tv except streaming through tv is terrible
Ease of set up was super easy, picture quality is fantastic, remotes and online are great except using streaming during peak hours which includes weekends and nights. I would really only dock half a star as I had to set up my laptop to stream and then hook HDMI to tv since I cant use sony online function, and I am not the only one. It is on ALL sony tv's that you have to register through sony/netflix. My netflix and amazon work fine as long as I run them outside of tv then hdmi to the computer, but try to do it through tv and just get errors. It is most likely a sony server problem since you have to register your tv through sony/netflix in order to receive the signal. Other than this annoying item it is a great tv. I am sure there is a workaround if you call, but I have an extra hdmi and laptop laying around so just port to work around it myself. Also, a 2 hour HD movie through my cable provider uses at least 6GB and maybe 7.... So be careful if you have caps and your speed runs fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveInNY5 Excellent Choice
This is a great TV. The picture is gorgeous and rivals even the best plasmas. You get true blacks in this set. I love the frame-less Gorilla glass. I did have a little trouble setting up the HDMI Control because my 1+ year old Sony amp did not have ARC (a new Sony feature), but with the help of Tech Support I got it working without ARC. I also had some problems setting up the internet even though my Sony Blu-Ray works well, but I've tweaked my router settings and now its working well. I like that I can pivot the screen 20 degrees in either direction, but the TV wobbles a bit on the stand. I don't think its going to fall, but it should be more stable. Oh, I forgot to mention the 3D. Its AMAZING! I can't wait to get more 3D programming. You can even simulate 3D on a non-3D show or movie and although its not as incredible as the full 3D, it is pretty great. Plus it has Picture and Picture so you can watch 2 things at once. So my wife can watch a movie on half the screen and I can watch football on the other half. It doesn't get better than that!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Montecristo Not Reliable
The TV offers a nice picture. Great for movies and gaming. The 3d experience, amazing. The sound its decent despite the hidden big speakers on the back. My biggest problem. Not reliable. Two days ago it asked me to do an update and after it said it was completed it turns off within ten seconds after been on.Seems like I might not be the only one since I read others reviews online and they seemed to have the same problem. Don't do the update or it will kill your tv with some sort of computer virus. This is unacceptable for Sony's top of the line and I was told by the tech that it will take weeks before he could get the part that supposedly is now mess up . I now you guys can do better so please don't disappoint your loyal customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TheGoldMan Never another brand
In the past 6 months i have been trying to find a tv to replace my sony 60 inch projection, which to be honest, was way ahead of its time. I have purchased the samsung 8000 series and sharp 835u and returned both as the picure wasnt that much better than my sxrd i was replacing. So i started researching and found this beauty, and i have to say i am highly impressed with this set. Yes it can be pricey but compared to the other brands, you are getting MORE than you pay for. Take it from someone who has trouble spending big money on a product only to be dissapointed after setting it up. This tv will not dissapoint, the color, clarity, and motion on this tv is far and away the best on any set out there. Go for it, you won't regret it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Summer1 Fantastic XBR
The 55 inch XBR H929 is one of the best televisions I have ever owned. Set-up out of the box was simple and after the electrician finished a custom wall mount install with Bose speakers this tv just blows all the others I have seen recently out of the water. The monolithic panel also looks great when the tv is off. Works incredibly well with Blu Ray and 3D movies. I rarely write reviews so but this tv is worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jude3 Truly the Best of the Best
If you want the best TV on the market, look no further. This TV has stunning picture quality and better than any other TV that I have seen. The TV looks great in my living room with its slim design and brushed aluminum finish on the stand and around the edges. One thing to consider is that the speakers on this TV are kind of weak and i recommend having an external sound system of some sort. This TV has many built in apps and internet features. Also, this TV gets better and better because of the updates it automatically receives. The last update brought facebook, twitter, and Youtube HD. Youtube looks great on this TV with the new update. I'm so happy with my purchase and I recommend this Tv to anyone looking for the Best TV with all the bells and whistles and is willing to pay the premium price for it.
