I have been wanting a Sony TV for a VERY long time, I can't believe I finally purchased this model. Fairly easy setup. Excellent picture! Wonderful 3D quality! I had to purchase a 3rd pair of 3D glasses and the TDG-BT500A was very easy to pair.
Great refresh rate. Motionflow works great on movies (both Blu-Ray and DVD) and my games. I got to get use to it on 3D, though. My brain can't seem to process all the information of smooth flowing 3D cinema. LOL!
Trying the Playstation Now is great! It was even easy to pair my Dualshock 3 controller. Downsides are that it stays on when I stop playing Playstation Now and that I have to pair it to my PS3 when I need it for the console.
It is pretty cool that I can control my PS3 XMB using the TV remote. Downside of that is you need to make sure the TV can sense the remote so it can send the signal via HDMI. It is understandable, however.
Wonderful idea that the stand can convert to a wall mount with included hardware setup.
Coming from a 42" other brand, I am so grateful I purchased this TV.

I was a life long Sony customer until 32 days after the I purchased my 3-D Sony tv, Sony sound bar and wireless bass, Sony 3-D Blue-ray DVD player and several 3-D movies. The tv broke, and Sony's customer service hasn't done much of anything to help ease my mind about the whole situation. As of now (1 Nov 14), I have been without a tv for about two (2) WEEKS. I still don't know if I will get a replacement tv or what?

Everything about the TV is just as expected, the colors are true, the sound is good, the design is probably the best among its peers, the smart features are good, but not great, it is perfect for our family room where we watch most of our kids shows, such as cartoons in Netflix which is a cinch to start due to the remote Netflix button. So here are the cons: the mount design is less than stellar since it only attached to wall in one position ( the wall mount is included, you just need the wall anchors) and if you want, for example, a multi-positional wall mount I hear you need an adapter since this one does not have the universal mounting hole positions in the back (only two as opposed to four), but overall the TV is great, it met all my expectations minus the mounting options. The price was good, but since it was a bit more than all competitors I would have expected the mounting options to be at least the same if not better.

This TV has a beautiful STANDARD picture when sitting directly facing the screen. The colors become more muted when viewing it from an angle so its best suited to small groups that can crowd in front.
The 3D quality is absolutely abysmal. The picture is filled with crosstalk. Close-up images near the edges of the frame are blurry, distorted and it's almost impossible to get your eyes to focus on them. I am shocked that a manufacturer with Sony's history and brand recognition would market a 3D TV with such poor image quality.
This is a "smart" TV and connecting it to the internet was easy. The network setup practically runs itself. Sony gives you access to a wide range of providers, including Amazon Prime, Netflix and MLB-TV. The smart TV menus are simple and easy to navigate.
For some unfathomable reason, Sony chose to use a non-VESA mounting system. This means that you're out of luck if you want to use an articulating, adjustable wall mount. You're stuck with the Sony mount which only lets you put it flat against the wall or on a tabletop.
All in all, this TV has it's good points but if you're looking for a 3D TV you'd best look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jrow1 Good TV; poor information
The picture quality of our new tV is great, but we have had this TV since May and my exasperation with sound issues finally led me to do a live chat (which didn't solve the problem but at least led me to the section of the I Manuel which helped me solve my problem). SONY needs to create a much more user friendly manuel. I would never find the audio info (the word is not referenced in the hard copy manuel) without the direction of the online chat. I knew that our 10 year old Sony had audio options, and I couldn't believe that this TV did not. For over 40 users, you need to spend a bit more on paper and regardless, Sony needs to at least reference WHERE a person can control the audio settings. The problem for us was the factory set surround sound (which tended to drown out the dialogue on most programs). I am now happy with my TV, but that was after questioning the audio for three months.

I purchased three 40 inch TV's from the Sony Store for Christmas presents and then decided to get a 50 inch for me. I only purchase Sony TV's. I have found the quality of Sonys are the best.
After speaking to the customer service rep and explaining my concerns about the negative reviews on this TV I made a decision to purchase it with the extended warranty.
I am a 68 year old woman and didn't have any problem getting it set up. I shocked myself because I was so sure it would be difficult for me to figure out and was expecting to have to spend hours on the phone with technical support. I didn't even have to call them.
Yesterday I noticed that hey lowered the price another $200.00 so I called them and asked if they would refund the difference to me. They said they would and filled out the paperwork for the refund while I was on the phone with them.
This TV has a beautiful picture, great sound, easy to setup and operate. Purchasing this TV was a good decision and I highly recommend it if you are in the market for a 50 inch. Dealing with the Sony Store was also a good decision. They have outstanding customer service reps and are a joy to work with.

After a few minor hitches,(bit of non information),and a software update, all I can say is, WOW,yes this TV has a WOW factor of 5 stars, anyone wanting more, simply will never be happy, this TV has done everything I wanted and way way more,in fact the only problem is the transmission of the TV networks, mostly in 570i,GET your act together,As sony has given me so much fine tuning but it does know good unless transmission is state of the art. This is truely a positive step into a fantasy world come true.
All you lucky people who get the next c series will have all the bugs worked out,A real Masterpiece to be proud of Sony Thank You

Rated 4 out of 5 by Matt065 GREAT PICTURE, AWFUL APPS
I purchased this TV as I work at a major retailer that sells these and I absolutely loved the picture. I have yet to be let down by the picture of this TV, but I have been let down by the lack of usability of the Smart TV aspect of it. It seems as though Sony has kept every video service except for its own Video Unlimited out of the picture. This TV replaced a smaller Samsung Smart TV and I had already purchased several movies on VUDU and have many linked to my ultraviolet account. This TV offers no way to watch those movies as it does not offer VUDU OR Cinema Now as apps, and to my knowledge no other way to access your ultraviolet movies.
Until this is changed I refuse to purchase a single thing through the Sony Unlimited applications as I will not allow any company to dictate who I may purchase from. I almost entertained the thought of purchasing the Sony Internet TV with Google but then realized that for the price I paid my TV should be able to do this.
Again, GREAT PICTURE, and I recommend it for that when I have customers looking for a great quality TV, but if someone comes in looking for a TV that has a lot of Smart Apps, I immediately put Sony on the chopping block, and I will have to continue to do so until this is changed.
Come on Sony, the product is great, give your customers what they want!
