Rated 1 out of 5 by 120hzSportsfan I should have bought the Vizeo for $100 less...
I was very excited when I ordered my TV, it was to be an upgrade from a 2007 Mitsubishi 46" LCD 120hz TV. Today my new Sony arrived, I unboxed it, it was remarkably light and easy to move around compared to my old TV. I hooked it up and instantly noticed that the picture isn't as crisp as my Mitsubishi, the default color settings appear overly bright and cartoonish (that was easily cleared up with a few adjustments). The first thing I turned on is game 1 of the NLDS baseball playoffs between the Reds and Pirates, I was very disappointed with Sony's XR120, it actually looks like they just printed a fancy name on the TV box and did nothing to the TV itself. The motion blur on this TV is more than abundant! I thought maybe a Bluray disc will be more telling, it is... the motion blur and shudder are horrible, and the picture is grainy, my brother has an RCA 120hz TV and his TV looks much better than this one, I should have bought the 50 inch Vizeo Smart TV with the same specs for $100 less... I expected more from Sony, even if it isn't their flagship line...

Rated 5 out of 5 by GCVigilante Fantastic Picture Quality
First Sony TV & in LOVE! Was a little worried about the MotionFlow tech making things look like a soap opera but it doesn't at all. Makes things just a tad smoother which is great for action movies and video games. I've read complaints about the viewing angle but I didn't notice any degrade in picture quality from any angle. Out of the box picture seemed calibrated, sharp, bright & clear. User Interface is very straightforward with lots of settings (if you so desire). Very thin bezel and stand make it look like a piece of art on my TV stand. Very polished product all around, can't recommend it enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cjks1 great tv
for the price i paid for this television i cannot believe the quality, the picture is awesome, i cannot believe how light this tv is, i live in canada and bought this in the USA because sony canada wanted two times the price, the custome agent could not believe what i paid for it, my two biggest complaints are the lack of hdmi and the size of the remote control, way too small, plus the channel and volume button are in a horrible position on the remote awesome tv.4 out of 5

Rated 5 out of 5 by WARRZONE Great TV! Excellent Quality! What a Bargain!
This TV has a great picture. The direct (full) LEDs help the contrast and black levels. I did not have to mess around with the picture settings in the menu. The TV styling (build) and menu styling (interface) are nice. The TV is well-built and does not feel cheap, and the stand is not flimsy.
My TV was hot off the press (Mfg. August 2013). The Sony store says that this TV is no longer available. I wonder if they are sold out, or if the TVs are discontinued so early. Sony should bring them back if that's the case.
I did not need a Smart TV since they typically have a clumsy interface, and they drive up the price. Their app selection is also usually more limited than boxes like Roku or Apple TV with Airplay. I use my Xbox 360 and soon my PS4 for streaming apps anyway.
I also did not need a 3D TV, which I see as more of a gimmick. Would it be nice to have? Sure, but not for $300 more. It is hard to get real HD content on Blu-Ray, and even then, HD stereoscopic 3D is best viewed on a 100"+ nice screen (my preference is silver) using a good projector ($1500+).
I mentioned some of the positive aspects of this TV, so now I will list the few negative apects of this TV that I have found: the sound quality of the speakers is similar to that of all flat screen speakers, so I had to get a sound bar (HT-CT260H). Bravia Sync works well (HDMI CEC). The TV only has 1 true HDMI port. It's a good thing it has ARC, so no HDMI output is really necessary. The other HDMI port shares with MHL on the side of the TV, which I did not know before I bought it. I thought I was getting 2 stand-alone HDMI inputs + 1 MHL port. Only one HDMI input in the back makes my decision for me on how to set up the cables — I will be running everything into a switcher, then into the sound bar, and then into the TV (using all high-speed HDMI 1.4 cables). One last thing, the remote does not have a dedicated settings button. This means I have to take extra steps and hit "Home," scroll down and select "Settings." Also, I'd prefer the remote to be backlit and have bluetooth capabilities (to control PS3, PS4, iPhone, etc). I will have to get a Logitech universal remote eventually.
The positives, by far, outweigh the negatives (more like minor annoyances), and for this price, this TV cannot be beat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by abensteinjp Love this TV
Just got the KDL-50R450A a few weeks ago. Came in perfect shape, set up very easy (four screws for the base). Hooking it up was also a snap - coax for in-house signal, hdmi for Apple TV, hdmi for DVD player, optical audio goes to Sony sound bar. Turn it on, auto setup took about 3 mins and ready to go.
The picture is very good, but not as perfect as the high end HDTV's from Sony. Honestly, with how my wife and I watch TV (we're not videophiles) we don't notice the difference. However, getting a 50" HDTV for $600 it's outstanding. Couldn't be happier

Rated 3 out of 5 by VinMan Great TV but has a dead (red) pixel
I got this TV refurbished and I really like the quality of it. It does everything I need it to and very well. There is only one problem. I was switching inputs the other day and the screen was entirely black. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something weird so I took a closer look and it seems like I've got a dead pixel :(. I tried to start a claim online to no luck they want me to call and start a claim, well I've been on hold the past 30 minutes and still haven't spoken to a rep. Very frustrating support on a TV that I really like. Just hoping we can get this taken care of.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cptnjarhead Great Value!
This TV is a great panel, but people need to understand the source that is coming in makes the picture.
Example 1: My son hooked up his xbox via hdmi and it looked flawless and ran smooth as butter.
Example 2: My digital cable via Coax, some channels are 1080i and some are 720p, if i watch Football on one channel it digitizes during fast motion, however if i turn to a different channel, say ESP and watch Football, the motion is perfect and crisp.
Example 3: Blue ray, and HD netflix, amazon streaming is flawless via HDMI, action movies or sporting events (UFC) look amazing and fluid.
All in all my viewing experience has been excellent.
This panel is perfect for gaming, sports and movies.
Hook up a Roku, or smart device and your all set.
Just remember the source coming in dictates your experience.

After reading a lot of the reviews about entry level tv's. I am happy to say that my 50R450 surpassed my expectations. I was looking for something to complement my sony internet television and I am glad I stuck with Sony for my man cave!
