Let me start off by saying that I searched all over the internet for a review of this TV with little luck. The closest review I found was of the 55" version and it wasn't the most flattering. I decide to buy this TV because the it was on sale from the regular price of $1800. It looks amazing. It is very slim and has elegant base. There is no frame around the screen which I love. One of the complaints I read about was of the Sony emblem at the bottom of the screen, but it doesn't bother me nor is it distracting. The picture quality is superb. Movies.,video games, and sports all look great. My favorite part is the sony app that lets you use your andriod as a remote. I use it all the time as well as the function that lets me stream youtube and straight on to the tv. I cant say much about the speakers. Like with any TV (especially as sleek as this) the speakers aren't the greatest and leave you wanting more. I have a great sony sound bar that I use, so I have no complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by UKlass An excellent TV spoiled by poor sound quality
The picture on the TV is absolutely fantastic and I would certainly give it 5 stars for the picture quality. However, the sound output from the TV is hugely disappointing. I chose the TV for the "surround sound" described on the Sony web site. I was expecting much better sound quality than my old TV, and the sound on the new TV is tinny and completely underwhelming. I am now going to have to purchase a separate sound bar, which seems a little ridiculous when I purchased a more expensive TV based on the fact that the sound output was supposed to be surround sound quality. Since my purchase I have read other reviews about the poor sound quality, and wish that I had read these before I bought the TV. I certainly could not recommend the TV to others based on the poor sound performance. I hope that Sony will address the issue and improve the sound output on what otherwise is an excellent TV, as they are definitely going to lose sales (particularly recommendations by word of mouth) until they fix the problem.

The best tv I have ever purchased. The picture is razor sharp. Watching 3D on this TV is a treat for eyes. I am so happy to buy this tv. I have read few reviews that some people are not pleased with the sound. I don't know why do people expect something out of this world. Like come on guys, did you expect heart pounding bass from two 10 watt speakers??? If yes then you guys need help.
I am happy with everything. Love you SONY! No Samsung, no LG comes close to SONY.

First: ground shipping took only 3 days !! Yikes, and by Fedex! And free shipping !!
Second: with help of son in law ,and a few HDMI cables, replaced an older 42 in sharp aquos, and a WORLD of difference ! the size is not larger (47 vs 42), but in our den, just a good size. So thin and picture is sooooo GOOD with the motionflow sceen. I No grass or football moving sporadically. And I dont do gaming, but if I did, this would be fantastic for sure. And I can tell the difference from the Sharp to this Sony during football ! Cant wait to wait to see AVATAR again with the 3 D glasses provided !
A Winner for sure !

Rated 5 out of 5 by SonyColorado Superb television!!!
No HDMI input lag, great picture quality with Sony's XReality Pro processor; and smooth, fluid picture recreation with Motion-Flow 480. The dynamic edge LED lighting with its glossy panel makes for truer, deeper, inkier black levels. The whites are clear and true as well. Overall, the W802 is nothing like Sony's HX750 series, but a much better television! I highly recommend this series for anyone wanting a great TV at an excellent cost.

Upgrade my Sony 32" HDTV to their 47" Smart 3D HDTV and all I have to say is "WOW!" The picture is phenomenal with both standard HD and 3D. Sound is fine, too. TV just may pay for itself with Netflix, Hulu Plus and all the other internet services, I may just downgrade my cable services. Sony maybe more expensive, but my Samsung products never seem to last more than 3 years. In my opinion, Sony is worth ever cent I paid!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Breakdancefight Stunning design and stellar performance!
The subtle unassuming brown box offers no indication of the sleek display within it. I was immediately blown away by the aesthetics of the display. While other manufacturers aim to make their display blend in with your living room environment, Sony has opted to design a television that like a Italian sports car that begs to be seen. Let's start with the bezel a half inch thick gunmetal strip that frames the edge of the display. Upon further inspection you will notice a subtle jade accent that pinstripes the gunmetal. Sony 2013 line-up all exhibit a futuristic design with a small illuminated placard adorning the center of the display and a low profile stand that looks like the hull of the Star ship Enterprise . I could go on forever about the aesthetics of the display, but let's move on to the performance. It is hard to judge a displays performance in a crowded showroom, so the true test will always be your living room. After a very quick set-up you are greeted by the redesigned interface. Gone now are the PS3 inspired cross media bar that always felt slow and difficult to navigate. Sony has replaced it with an intuitive tablet PC inspired interface that would fit perfectly on your Surface or Ipad. Large illustrated HD icons make up the interface allowing you fast confusion free navigation. The no frills IR remote will be instantly familiar and make navigation simple.
Sony has opted to use passive 3D IPS Edge lit panels and inexpensive "Theater Style" 3D glasses for comfortable battery free viewing at home. Putting it the through its paces with gamut of viewing material from Prometheus to Paranorman I was blown away by its super sharp cross talk free tri-dimensional viewing.
Employing their proprietory X-realty Pro engine 2-D content was just as impressive with an almost 3D depth to all content. All the marketing features aside the display offers impressive motion performance employing a 120hz panel with scanning backlight and motionflow technology for fantastic game and film performance. In my viewing I have seen little in the way of uniformity issues associated with edge-lit display. The Dynamic Edge with frame dimming (Adv. Contrast enhancement) is pretty impressive technology. While not true "Zone dimming" it still manages to be a very convincing alternative.
I move now to my favorite part gaming! Full disclosure I have been a Sony fan most of life, so this display had a lot to live up to. I fired up the PS3 and began my torture test of gaming content from the claustrophobic hall of Deadspaces USG Ishimura to the bustling New Orleans inspired streets of Infamous2's New Marai I was blown away. I saw no hint of overdrive trailing or excessive motion blur at anytime. And for the twitch gamer who loves a good round of Street Fighter or Battlefield multiplayer will be pleased to know input lag is near non-existent (reportedly about 6ms). While the performance won't match what you would find on a $3-4000 plasma display the w802a makes up for with a super-solid performance across the board. I would without hesitation recommend this set to anyone in the market for feature rich display.
