The construction quality of this screen is poor, it was not entirely assembled and the screen was broken. no damage to the box and no marks on the bezel but clearly it was damaged during assembly. Returning tomorrow. Very disappointed. Will wait to review the actual function of the TV once I receive a working model.

The picture quality is great, and the sound is amazing! Changing channels is quick. The feature to save your favorite channels saves time from having to flip channels until you find what you are looking for.
We have Plasma, LED and LCD TVs and this one is our favorite! If you loose your remote, the controls on the side are easy to use. Our previous models had small buttons that you had to shine a light on in order to figure out which one was which. Sony made them larger and with different shapes for you to manipulate the channels with ease.
The settings are very simple and easy to get to.
Channel and Volume buttons on the remote are located near the bottom making it uncomfortable to manipulate.
Picture in Picture doesn't work with everyone due to the need to hook up your computer, not all computers are compatible.
We really wanted a 50", but settled on this 40" because of the quality and price.

I was skeptical about LEDs at first, coming from one of the two old widescreen CRTs ever made, I was leaning more towards a plasma. I had heard a lot of complaints about motion blur, false blacks and input lag in LEDs and LCDs. Then I went shopping, not one plasma under $1500 had the darker "smart glass" every plasma needs to be considerable. Then I learned of Sonys "motion flow" and "game mode" in this particular model. I did a lot of research and read a lot reviews, nearly all were positive. Throw in the under $500 price tag and I was sold. 99% of my home entertainment comes from my PS3, streaming TV, Netflix, Sports, DVDs, BluRays, Music and of course Gaming, so I was hoping matching my PS3 up with a Sony TV would be a good move. I'll admit I had some doubts at first, the default calibrations were producing some black crush, ghosting and color shifting in the first few movies and games I tested. I got it all pretty close and then I found this top notch AVS calibrator online, ran the MP4 from a flashdrive and followed their pdf tutorial... and... Wow, no blur, no lag, no grain. Deep blacks, rich vibrant colors and beautiful depth in contrast. All of my media looks astounding! Even blown up videos in the web browser look smooth and HD. Games themselves appear nearly 3 dimensional, titles like Ratchet & Clank even out shine Pixar characters in the theater... This TV was meant to be paired with the Playstation and should really be advertised as such... It does take some knowledgeable tweaking and calibrating but it's more than worth it.

We purchased this TV from Costco 6 months ago and it started to fail. We called Costco concierge for help. They called Sony and we were on hold for 30 minutes. The first rep we spoke with told us we have to ship the TV back and they will ship a re-certified TV and wanted our credit card to guarantee shipment of the bad TV back. We ask to speak with a manager as we didn't agree with paying the shipping back. They then transferred us to another department and the wait would be over an hour so we agreed to pay to ship it back. They took our credit card number and said it would be to us 7/21/2014. When we didn't receive we called back with Costco help and was told it still didn't ship. We asked to speak with a manager and Sony refused to let us. We then called back again with Costco and got a manager at Sony who said it would ship in 3 more days and would take another 5-7 days to receive. We told him we have recorded calls stating 7/21/2014. He basically called us a liar as no one would say this. We got so frustrated we called our local Costco store and gave them the case number and the manager would get back to us. He did and agreed to take the TV back. Costco is the best but Sony is no help. We will never buy another Sony product again. Their customer service department wherever they are located were very rude and we could barely understand them on the phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mdgonzo And this is why I am Sony ethusiast !
The image quality in the television is absolutely breathe taking. The resolution on the television transitions through frames seamlessly. The design is sleek and stunning, without taking away from the room. The sound alone is clear and doesn't need the volume to be turned up in order to fill the room. I would buy this TV for every room in my house ! Flawlessly gorgeous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NIKKO OVERALL GOOD VALUE
Overall the performance is very good. I find the lack of various inputs is a issue for us, i.e. no "S" video, only on component input, and no composite inputs. The TV has a generous amount of features to customize the unit to your needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Patrick4 Such an awesome TV
I purchased this TV mostly on it's in store look, the small bezel and good looking picture kind of sold me but I have an 8 year old Sony 46" HDTV that still works perfectly so I kind of leaned towards Sony in the first place. I got it for the bedroom to play my PS4 and it has surpassed every expectation I had. Amazing built in speakers and perfect picture, it is really an awesome tv. Weighing 17lbs compared to my old bravia at 72 is also a cool little added extra. Great TV worth every penny.

The tv produces great picture quality and has decent sound. Price is a bit higher than other brands but the quality that Sony produces is unmatched.
