Rated 1 out of 5 by FLsoundman Sound problems
I tried two BDV-E3100. The first one I brought home had 2 problems. One was it would get stuck on maximum volume when you were adjusting the volume. The other was it would get in a mode where it'd alternate between sound and being muted. It could only be fixed by doing a system reset. I exchanged it for a different unit. This one did not have the first problem but it would occasionally get into the mode where it would rapidly alternate between mute and sound. This would happen when you attempted to adjust the volume. I previously would only buy Sony products because of their high quality but after this I don't know that I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Northsider I got this for free so of course I love it.
It came as a service/safety award from my employer. I installed it in my daughters tv room and can't believe the quality and features. Surely worth $400. Set up was fast and easy and navigating the menu was also a breeze. LOVE IT!

Rated 1 out of 5 by karenp0320 I really wanted to love it.....
Having great success with Sony products in the past, it seemed obvious to purchase a Sony product when looking for a new surround sound for our living room television. Boy was I wrong. Here is quick summary about what I feel is wrong with the product
* Constant buffering when streaming
* Installation was a nightmare.
* It doesn't get as loud as I hoped, volume has to be on 20 to even hear anything.
* Had to put extensions on the speakers because the wires were not even close to being long enough.
* The unit wants to control everything...and my tv and satellite system
kept fighting with the unit. After several hours of trying to figure this out, I spent an hour with tech support. Finally got it to work "correctly" until
the next day....the same fighting occurred again. I finally gave up.
I now use the unit only as a stereo system. I disconnected the streaming and had to do a Factory reset to my Roku streaming unit to get it to work.
I would return the product but feel I can't because of the modifications I made to the speaker wire and... my dog chewed a bit on the remote control, I don't think I can.
I think I should have bought a simple receiver and some really good speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by trishk So many apps!
Overall this is an excellent system for the price. My only complaint is that I consider the volume to be a little too conservative when I am watching television. The volume goes a lot higher when I am watching a DVD or blu-ray.
The app choices are like Christmas, although some of the apps are pretty pricey. I may actually be able to eliminate some of my expensive cable services.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shamol Awesome sound system
Bass- Very deep bass. I tuned up only +2db and that is more than enough for me to shake my 16ft by 14ft room. Surround speaker sound quality is crystal clear and no way to hurt your years. But it has a negative issue and that is I can't hear enough untill I volume uo to 16. but after that it is awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rayroderick Best bargain
When my old system finally died I shopped and shopped looking for the right fit. Soundbars are nice but just not enough power in any that I found. So I found this Sony product and pun intended " it blew my mind!" The crisp clear sound and the power!!! The interface and the ease of use as awesome! I'm a late comer to bluray it's really great as well. I typically buy all my movies or rent them via appletv. Now I don't mind getting a few disc.

I really like this system. The sound is good, I just wish i could adjust the Treble and Bass settings. Not sure if there is a way, but I have looked around all of the settings and didn't see an option. But other than that, I like that fact that its set up similar to a PS3, so that is a great plus. And the Apps installed are great also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Elgin Good enough but not great!
This system does it's job for the price. It's a good home theater system to start off with. What i like the most about this home theater system is how easy it is connect your mobile device to listen to music or watch your YouTube videos on the big screen. We listened to my playlist music videos for my son's birthday party and it was very useful and fun. It was an easy set up and it has two easy set up options whether you want all your speaker around the tv or all around your living room (surround). I like this option because i rent and i don't want to put holes on the wall or run cables around the wall.
What you must know is that to get the best sound & sound effects you must turn your volume to the MAX or else it's like listening to your tv's factory volume.
What i don't like is that it takes a while to turn the player on like 8 seconds. There is an option to start it immediately but then turning it off takes a long time (i think this is the way it goes) . The interface is very dull to my opinion, it's like an outdated version of the PS3. Whenever i try to go online and stream music it's always updating it's network content, even if you do this 2 days later for some reason. The Netflix interface is frustrating because you can't search for movies by a specific genre only. All the genre runs horizontally on the screen and it's never ending, it's not a grid.
The speakers are beautiful and so is the player. it all looks great with an all black tv stand. The remote control is very responsive with the player and you can lower the tv volume even if it's a different brand (i have a Westinghouse) without any special settings.
By the way Sony Shipped this item very very quickly and it was packaged well, with tracking!
Overall i would recommend this player for anyone taking a first step to HT's. Hope this helps!
