3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Super Wi-Fi
Great streaming device
Easy to set-up and versatile since it connects to many network services such as Netflix, Windows 8 PC that streams via Windows Media Player and a DLNA network file storage to stream my media. Response is quick and the XrossMediaBar (XMB UI is familiar if you've used PSP or PS3.
I replaced my DVD player and Roku with this single device.
One needs to remember DLNA cannot play some files such as protected iTunes files or Windows Recorded TV Show (.WTV) files since they are limited to running on iTunes or Windows devices. But for plain MP3, MP4 video files, and photos, this works perfectly.

Problem with remote
I also have S5100 connected to my HX850. Watched some bluray movies and it was fine but when I watch 3D bluray disc, the remote control RMT-B119A tha came with it, won't work properly. Having hard time skipping a chapter, fast forwarding, rewinding. I have to press the skip, next buttons more than once to make it work. It is like, it has a low bat but it's not. I tried using my other remote RMT- B104A and RMT-B107A but won't work either. I tried my HX850 TV remote RM -YD073 and it works fine.

Great 3D glasses at a great price
I absolutely love the new passive 3D tech. These glasses are far and away more comfortable than the active glasses of my original 3D TV, and no need to worry about dead batteries. The price is great. The TV came with 4 glasses, and I purchased 4 more through the Sony store. I'm looking forward to some great movie nights with my family.

Extraordinary, but network setup was difficult
I tried players from many different competitors, and this one runs circles around all of them.
I'm using the player on a wired connection so can't speak about the wi-fi.
Audio, video and Netflix are all amazing. The video quality is flawless, and seemed to improve a bit after a short break-in period. Blu-Rays are excellent. As well, on Netflix with high-speed internet service, I'm getting HD quality video and a full 5.1 channels of audio with no stuttering or dropouts -- plus the movies start at full resolution, rather than slowly ramping up from a blurry resolution like on players from other manufacturers.
Audio quality is exceptional and adds to the movie experience. I immediately noticed that streaming movies sounded unusually good. Maybe because of the DTS:Neo option.
The big and unexpected bonus for me was that audio quality on CDs is jaw-droppingly good, into the range of ultra-high fidelity CD players. So good and realistic it sometimes raises the hairs on my forearms.
My only significant criticism of this unit is that network setup was unnecessarily difficult. My unit came without the Primary and Secondary DNS addresses entered for the Sony Entertainment Network, so I couldn't initially connect to any streaming services and I had to search on the Web for the solution. Also the automatic IP detection setting didn't work properly, so I had to figure out and manually enter my IP address.
Once I got the network issues fixed, the unit worked flawlessly, and the effort was worth it.
