The HDR-PJ430V Camcorder should come with a remote to stop and start recording and playback. I would like to know what Sony was thinking regarding The external Wi-Fi option is totally useless if you want to use a light on the Multi Shoe which is recessed in the top of the body forcing you to use their light accessories only. The Wi-Fi should be built into the camera or built into the LED light accessory, because you will need a light for any indoor shooting. I did not find the low light shooting (indoor with regular lights) acceptable, very grainy. You cannot remotely control this camera without the $100.00++ Wi-Fi option, and you cannot use the accessory shoe for the LED light at the same time. You will have to purchase a 3rd party light that attaches to the tripod mount. Also if you want to connect the camera to RCA audio & video jacks you need to buy a special multi cable from sony. I am not impressed by sony!

The camera seems to have good picture; but, the reason I bought this one over the others is it said it could be controlled remotely with WiFi. Not out of the box! You have to buy an adapter that plugs into the top of the camera instead of the light source. Then, in reality it could... If you come up with the software to do it. They provide a list of smart phones that an app works with but I don't have a smart phone and that would make for one expensive remote control. I have a laptop controlling my studio and wanted to use it's WiFi for remote control, the only thing the WiFi is good for is downloading files the same as the USB plug does already. Instructions were totally useless for the menu selections, sorry, I am still trying to figure them out. Don't even think about support, it aint there for real problems.
